does it matter she is a babe and this is a last effort try to save a dying franchise.

Matters to me. I like watching people that can ACT their parts, not just pretty faces. Winona doesn't seem very Amanda like to me, there fore not a fan.

I have to agree. While I think Winona is attractive and she's been in some great movies, I can't picture her playing Amanda.

She has been in some great movies, she just wasn't great in them. She's the female Keanu Reeves. Watching them "act" alongside one another in Bram Stoker's Dracula is excruciating.

I can't imagine she'll have a huge part in this Star Trek flick though, so it's nothing to lose sleep over.

Agreed on the size of her role. Spock's mother isn't going to be a role large enough to worry about. Probably just a few min of scree time.

I agree with that. Give her a chance, most people that I think are "terrible" for their characters end up being great (case in point, new bond). I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

WAKE UP!

IT'S STAR TREK, DUFI!! Remember? Shatner et al! Pump-action phasers! TREK!! What does ACTING have to do with TREK??!

Believe it or not Star Trek is NOT devoid of acting. Shatner should never be used as a measuring stick of any thing. If one did that, Boston Legal would be off the air.
