WIP - Scissorhands - Head Project

I miss having Edward, had to sell him because I couldn't live with that sculpt .. I hope hot toys continue with there Depp figures and release a 2.0 Edward with a sculpt like Rorys, and his civilian clothes.

A DX release of Scissorhands would be amazing. PERS would actually suit this and the additional outfit would look amazing. An extra ice sculpture or topiary stand as well please. If only!

It really does stink that they released Edward (the only Depp character I really wanted) before securing his likeness rights. The rest of the figure is great, but that head was just awful.

I never sell off pieces of a figure I'm keeping, but as soon as I replaced the head I sold on eBay

Had there been a good custom head at the time I probably would have kept him, but I didn't even like Xenovipers sculpt. Rorys looks perfect, good choice keeping the sculpted hair at the front, it might have ended up rough looking otherwise.

Thanks mate, yeah I hate messy customs, so I decided to mix real hair with sculpted hair. Not really a fan of Xenovipers custom either, I mean it was lovely work, but looked very much like a custom IMO. The Todd head is actually a good base for Scissorhands anyway.

I did a little more work on the hair yesterday, I think it's gonna work out pretty well.

Update No2: Hair Tests

So, I have been trying to work out how to get the correct styling for the hair. I think the only way to do it professionally is to make hair "plugs" each containing strands of different lengths. I'm using black mohair. Binding lengths and then binding them into larger bunches then rubber gluing the ends to create "plugs" these make it manageable and positionable.
In the movie his hair goes from reasonably short to very long whispy parts which hang or protrude from his head. I think this method will work pretty well.
My intention is to fit then plug the hair into the head cavity, afterwards I can style and cut it further.

Damn it, photobucket is not working for me today. It's been acting up for the last week or so, anyone else having problems with it?

Yeah, I just hate custom hair that looks like fur!
I think this will work, though,

...here I finally got a few pics to upload!
Please note that the hair is NOT positioned or even glued just layed on top of the head for now. I just wet it with water to give an idea what it will feel like when properly attached. And this is just ONE piece ____ed on at the front. Not brushed, not styled, not futzed, not trimmed.

I didn't fix neck yet, but I did raise the shoulders a little.

I've been wanting to make this long time ago. Unfortunately HT Edward is hard to find nowadays...

Rory you weren't kidding. This head is perfect size for this body. Shorten the neck a touch and its golden.
