Had a very nice chat with Daniel Campisi (Sideshow customer service / returns dept.) this-morning.
He gave me the info below, and I got the OK from him to paraphrase here.
Given the situation we all find ourselves in (customers AND Sideshow), they are going to do the following.
For anyone that has it in-hand, has opened and inspected it, and:
They will provide return shipping labels, and will refund:
They realise that mistakes have been made and want customers to be happier about this than they currently are.
I told Daniel that as far as I was concerned, this was very fair - and will result in people getting all/most of their money back (once import duties are claimed back).
We also discussed the reasons behind some of their production decisions (I'll drop that in another post at some point), and I offered my thoughts.
I again suggested they use the forums and or chosen contacts to get pre-production feedback on sculpts (a-la-new P1 maquette that could have been improved).
Basically . . . they understand . . . this was not what anyone wanted to happen . . . they are now trying to make the best of this situation for everyone.

1) Customer does not like it and wants to return
OR
2) Customer is disappointed and wants to return
OR
3) It is damaged and customer doesn't want a replacement
They will provide return shipping labels, and will refund:
- Original cost of item
- Original cost of shipping
- Any associated credit used
- Any reward points used
They realise that mistakes have been made and want customers to be happier about this than they currently are.
