I also posted this in the Star Wars section.. I wanted to share it here as well with other LSF collectors...

Here is my honest review of the Darth Maul LSF... My first overall impression out of the box... VERY IMPRESSIVE! He's huge..41" tall...Maul's portrait by Matt Falls is great! The paint app and color is also excellent. In person, the light saber is just fine... I don't find the saber too larger at all... The light feature on mine works just fine... and the effect of the way it goes on and off are pretty damn cool... Although with every light feature over time.. you use it less and less.. SSC also added blade-less saber ends so you do not have to display him with the sabers lit. The figure when assembled has a nice weight.. the base is large but is not very heavy until you put the figure on it... The clothing is just awesome... and it has many layers or different material textures.. The cloak is a mini masterpiece and the studded faux leather belt is a very nice touch... Maul's body proportions are just fine, again it's a digital photo issue and not the statue, much like the saber issue... I prefer him cloaked and hooded.. He just looks more ominous and awesome like this.... I had two minor QC issues with my Maul.. the bottom covering on the base had faulty gun and took me about 5 min to fix good as new, and the little red plastic cap on the end of my saber was off due to poor gluing.. this took about 5 min to fix... other than that... the statue was tip top! Maul comes with a full-color glossy manual with great photos and artwork.. The photos on each page are glossed, and will definitely stick together over time especially if you store the boxes and the seasonal temp changes get at it.. do yourself a favor and but a sheet of white copy paper inbetween each page or use tissue paper and you should have no issues for the long haul....Out of a score of 10... I give it a 9.... If your a Maul fan, and want a great LSF for your collection or Movie room... this IMO will not disappoint! Pictures coming....

I'm want to order LSF Maul and Wolf but avoiding SS because of the tax. What other retailers do you guys recommend? I would go with BBTS but they are sold out.

Only sideshow knows the answer to that, because it is an open ES. We can speculate all we want but we will never truly know....unless sideshow wants us to know. I really do think they made under 500...judging by how they produce other statues and how many. For its size and complexity, I just think that's a good guess. If so, grats to anyone who got their hands on one.

That's a pretty safe assumption.
With retailers 'supposedly' getting only 2 each, that number might be even less.

Just finished putting up Maul next to Wolf... WOW.. I don't know what the complaint was with Maul.. it's stunning!!! The light saber is not huge and chunky.. I don't know if it was distortion in the pics.. but it looks just like the one form the SDCC... I'll follow up with pics tonight.. but first impressions.. another home run..IMO.

Would love to see these two side-by-side.

I think that you may well have missed the boat with Wolf mate.
If you can find anyone that still has this for sale, i would snap it up as quick as possible.

Good luck with your hunt !

They are sold out too. I see one on eBay for $2,145.00 shipped. This maybe my opportunity to get it.

no ebay plz for this one try to get it from retailer mail every retailer n see any posibilities but dont go for ebay..

Congrats Attom, so which one you like better Wolf or Maul?

Hey Mamba.. they really are soooo different... I really would have a hard time choosing.. I'm just glad I was able to get them. I hope to have them for quite sometime.. and looking forward to seeing what other LSF are coming down the road...:) Any of these statues, including HT 1/6. SSC 1/6, 1/5 , 1/4 and the like can have a QC issue.. but when they get right it's really satisfying! These two are winners son far.

I have just got off the phone with my 2 friends Meno Cee and One Hunglo, that work in the quality control in the factory in China that made the Wolf LSF.
They have confirmed that the initial run on the Wolf was 250 and that it was stopped after that run.
They said that it was news to them that it came with neeting on the legs, and will keep an eye on things in the future.
So there you have it, straight from the horses mouth.

On a serious note, i wonder if enough of us ask, if SS will let us know how many were actually put into production. ??????

this wolf statue is wrong. the net on the legs not exists. if I buy this piece, I'll withdraw this wrong detail.

Just wow if only 250 of these were made.....I doubt SS would care to let us know "right now". Maybe later on down the road when its long sold out...who knows. Since its not on waitlist, possibly, they would share the information but probably most of the reps have no clue how many were actually made. All they know is, it is an open ES. I think if Sideshow came out and said we are only making 250 of these at the start...it would have sold out the first day it was up for pre-order

It was a joke Wolf, just trying to add a bit of light heartedness to things.
It would be nice to know how many were produced though.
