After all this bashing of colors Qc, I think you go back and realize that for the price, SS produces the very best in 1:2. There is no doubt about it in my mind.
Coming from some experience with collecting 1/2 for a few years now.

He is just incredible next to the others, even with minor paint variations

the 1/2 scale set up really looks amazing. Those pics and videos you posted made me cave in and order this.

I don't like the look of these 1:2 pieces in a group, they stand out better by themselves.

I agree.

Also cool mamba that you have the wolf predator. Out of all seen so far, I think Wolverine is my favorite. Followed by Doom then Iron Man.

Sweetjebus!

Humm... one in each room I guess
But then your going to need 8 rooms to display them! :dunno Who has an 8 room house here?
One has major wow factor, multiples, there is nothing like it!
Who here will buy more than one? A few of you, Im sure!
Doom is next!!

I didn't mean put one in each room, but if you displayed them like you have them in that group shot, it would really take away the presence each one has. Maybe one in each corner of a room or something to that degree, but not all together in one spot.

As for customizing(?), now that is truly insane! Why should we have to customize anything(?). & pay even more for it, especially at 2K! I don't see collectors customizing, Doom PF, Hulk PF, Cap PF, Thor PF, Iron man 1/2 Scale, Spidey com, Venom com, Xmen vs Sent. #1 dio, Hulk vs Spidey dio, .........etc Why? Because SS came really close to getting them near perfect, & at much more reasonable pricing. For 2K, all paint apps should have been perfect, & extra parts/options should have been included. Hell, they do it for lesser statues, why not this?

I think all of us would agree with your point that all paint apps should be up to scratch...i think this is the case for all statues, even those that cost us $350+ aswell as the more expensive $2k pieces.

As for customizing these pieces, yes i agree. Sideshow should be extremely thorough with their paint app and at least get it to match the proto pics from which we make our choice when deciding to purchase the item or not. In some cases they get it completely wrong like the Rogue PF for instance and i'm sure there have been many many more. In the Wolverine LSF case, although the shoulder guards are a minor issue it still would put off a few collectors from pulling the trigger...one should not have to correct a paint app when spending $350 let alone $2000...but unfortunately these QC issues will always be detected from one piece to the next as nothing in this world is ever perfect. Yes it would be truly insane to customise something with little or no experience, that would only end in tears but for those that are talented enough to want to do it then i think thats up to them. I'm 100% sure that if the paint app was so poor then id expect the piece to be returned for a replacement. Thats what i would do anyway. As much as i love to customise, i know when sideshow are taking the piss! :wink1:

As for the old school pieces, i have seen plenty of collectors customizing even the rarest of statues such as the Hulk PF (repainting of the base with road markings) Thor PF (removing the mixed media to create a solid 100% polystone statue) Doom PF (repainted to create a more weathered silver armour) the Iron Man LSF has been repainted chrome to recreate the MKII...to the more recent Hulk Maquette (to make the shade of his green skin tone to a darker shade)...heck, i even got labelled insane for customising the Iron Man and War Machine 1/4 Maquettes but they turned out really great in the end....so there have been plenty of cases where all types of statues get customised whether it be correcting bad paint apps or just to add a touch of individual preference to it :)

At the end of the day we are all individuals with different views of things...to me the Hulk PF is a classic and i'd never think about touching it, however, to another they may feel that they could customise something to make it appear better to them so nothing is ever perfect imo...

RobertoBagg10,

Point well taken. Congrats on you purchase, & to your excellent skills in improving your collection.:peace

Just went through a couple more pages of this thread...Roberto, you did a jawesome job (yes, I spelled jawesome) of matching Wolverine's shoulder armor to that of the prototype. Yeah, I agree, for 2 grand you shouldn't have to do that, but with the uniformity of the wear marks, it definitely gives off a cheaper looking vibe. If I had bought this, I'd pay you to do it to mine. Again, good work and congratulations to everyone else who put forth the time, money, and especially the stress to get this.

Steven
