No. Wade...(or Jack....he's a crazy SOB) ends up joining the weapon X program to find a way to cure his cancer. It doesnt go so well, so they end up borderline tortureing the guy until he goes nuts. His only power is healing factor he got from WX. Makes him look like a Shar-Pei.

He can teleport, but only with his little teleporter his Q esq buddy made for him.

He does not shoot lazers, or have blades in his arms.

Makes him look like a Shar-Pei.

Oddly enough, Shar Peis were bred for fighting, it's why the vast majority of the breed are predisposed towards violence. They have all of those wrinkles so that the attacking dog grabs a mouth full of loose but tough flesh and the Shar Pei can reach around and keep on attacking. To the extent that the breed was engineered to fight, the analogy actually fits, though I'm sure you meant it as a pejorative. :D

I'm passing on this movie because of what they did to Wade... not the pile of caca that was leaked! :lol

From the beginning this movie had all the potential of a fail. The trailers have me pumped. I don't care what people post...I'm gonna pay for a ticket on opening night. I'm fan enough of Jackman's Wolverine to give it an honest shot but I'd be lying if I didn't say that my expectations are really low.

Agreed. I love the character that Hugh created enough to give it a fair shot.

It's really not THAT bad. As long as you're going to see WOLVERINE. And not DP or another character. I foresee a lot of people coming back after opening night and saying, "WTF were you all crying about?" "It wasn't a masterpiece, but it wasn't Batman and Robin either."

7/10 for me.

I guess my standards are way low. I loved Ang Lee's Hulk, when most were ^^^^^ing about how boring it was. I am sure I will love Wolverine.

I do not have high standards for a comic book movie beyond accurate representation of character. Much like the comics a writer or artist take on the story is hit and miss. I never go to a comic book movie expecting award winning story, acting etc. Occassionally we get BB, TDK or IM which captures everything and we are blown away. Other times we get Elecktra, Catwoman which captures nothing and misses everything. All other movies are in the middle of the road.

(IMO) Hugh does a solid job as Wolverine minus the "physical stature". If the movie is a solid representation of the character with a decent story, conflict, solid effects and most important a 1/6 line from HT.....I'll be entertained :D

I cannot wait until next weekend.

*whisper* I liked Elektra too. And Daredevil. And FF. *whisper*

Even I couldn't get into Catwoman though. That was crazy bad. Don't even get me started on The Spirit. "I don't like egg on my face-uh." Stoopid.

Hulk is a terrific film, and an example (along with Dark Knight and X2) of what happens when people try to make comic book movies like proper dramas. I'll never understand the idea that we should grade on a curve because of the source material. That kind of thing is why everything is our culture is getting dumbed down. I don't want a ^^^^ty movie that gets a pass because Wolverine is in it. I want a Wolverine movie that's as good as Bullitt. There's no reason for this not to happen, except that it's easier to make garbage knowing there are enough people who'll pay to see it opening weekend even if it sucks.

I agree with you, I would LOVE all comic book flixs to match the quality of a BB, TDK etc. It is not realistic to expect people making or financing films to have the same interest / concern. My options 1. accept what they offer 2. Make my own film 3. Boycott

*Raises hand for option 1* I guess that means I elect to "dumb down" our culture. I work all day, I coach rec league programs, I have two Type I Diabetic children and I am earning my Masters Degree. I am ok with being clueless for two hours :D

Bullit?! I guess your expectations are really high!

I don't read comics and so far I haven't been that disappointed in any of the comic movies. Catwoman is the only one that is, IMO, horrible.

I guess we do live in a world where Paul Blart: Mall Cop can be a box office smash. There are no human beings in Wolverine. The problem with so many of these movies is they're just being made as empty spectacle. If you take out the costumes and CG you're left with nothing. Whereas the way it should work is you take out the costumes and CG and you're left with a compelling drama about fully developed characters.

But now it's all Attack of the Clones instead of Empire Strikes Back. I shouldn't be laughing at Wolverine in his own movie. I shouldn't be laughing at a Wolverine movie. I should be seeing a modern day Eastwood or McQueen blazing a cinematic fire across the summer, claws out.
