I saw this last night and liked it a lot. This was pretty well exactly what BvS failed to do (IMO) - it maintained a gritty tone while still being a lot of fun to watch. I really liked Gadot and Chris Pine, they were very good and that emotional core really held the movie together.

Ares was rode the schlock line a bit too finely, but the bit where Dr Poison and Ludendorrf (sic?) threw in the gas mask and laughed evilly was straight up camp and made the movie for me.

I did also kinda predict that there was going to be some kind of a twist around David Thewlis' character, but maybe that's because I've been watching Fargo and I'm getting used to him playing villains.

I honestly don't know what to expect, I'm right in the middle, Kara liked it, and he's a discerning individual, Jye didn't, and he's also a discerning individual who also lets himself get carried away by the hype within reason, he's not a stuck up like me, so that's a red flag.

And there's more people falling in either side, only one or 2 so far have fallen in the middle.

So, I guess that's good, I have no exceedingly good nor bad expectations.

For a DC movie its good. I give it a 6.5/10. So much of it reminded me of The first Avenger, then the twist at the end made me laugh so much the guy next to me gave me dirty looks. Who does the effects for these movies?

There's a scene at the end where Ares flies at Wonder Woman. It looks so bad I nearly spit my gum out.

Problem with Ares is that he got his armor from exploded debris. For an old villain, and an old one at that, he should've made some kind of crafted armor. His armor was made on the fly. Maybe he summon his weapon using magic, not sure, but they all look bland and same dark metal. They at the very least should've made him transform into a fearsome God of War that he is; not an old English fella in armor made of debris.
Still, this movie is good/great to see.

Very weird attitude...when Thor comes out later in the year I'll be there and hoping it's awesome. Won't be running it down here just for a cheap kicking.

I mean...we're on a forum for collecting toys & statues of fictional characters, what did you expect? Lol, of course people here are going to be nitpicking. It doesn't really matter though. The film has done great with critics (from sites to youtubers) and will obviously do great at the box office. So why cares what anyone here thinks. Even if this movie was subpar like all the other DCEU films, as long as you like it that's all that matters.

Jeez Louise, that's some serious reaching. Every single movie gets ripped to shreds here. GotG 2's thread is chock full of "it wasn't as funny as the first one", "Ego was another bad villain" and so on and so forth. Are these opinions not valid? Are they DC Shills? Do we not have the right to like/dislike things anymore?

It's a fight.

I think the big point being overlooked here is the opponent.

BvS Batman fights thugs in a warehouse...or like crows said he tanks them, lol love that description.

TWS Cap also takes out thugs BUT then has a 1v1 vs a very formidable opponent, almost an equal really.

The opponent is what elevates TWS fight over BvS thug takedowns.

Nah look, I do give in to the hype more than I would like but I can't help it, i've been waiting for these movies all my life.

Let me just say this about WW it is a movie that can easily be forgiven if one decides to ride the hype train.

It's not Catwoman or Superman 4.

If someone wanted to argue that Catwoman is good no one would take them seriously.

I can respect someone defending WW though like kara and batfan, I might even learn a thing or two that I might have missed and be swayed the other way.

Remember i'm very maleable when it comes to these movies, I want to like them.

There is no swaying when it comes to the real stinkers.

This movie is not one of those stinkers there's plenty of wiggle room for discussions.

My brain and heart have an internal battle over BvS every single day lol
