LOTR can't carry 9500 of anything. If DC is licensing the same statue rights to more than one company, what does that tell you about the volume they expect to be able to move?

Man, you sound like you work for them. Rising material costs?:lol What a joke! They only use half the materials now that they're selling us hollow statues. Rising labor costs?:rotfl Yes, because I'm sure Sideshow has been loosing a lot of profit meeting the demands of that strong labor union they have over in China. Are you so blind? Sideshow is just testing the water to see how much they can suck out of there customers without losing them. With the recent mass production of their products we should be seeing a decrease in prices, not an increase. They've increased their prices and edition sizes out of greed, not because it was necessary. Because of the simple fact that they have people hooked, and they're the only ones supplying the product that everyone is addicted to. The customers that bought there first products to help get their bussiness where it's today have become expendible. Not until it effects there profit margins will they start caring about us like they use to.

Yeah, I'm blind, stupid and I get a monthly check. Nothing more objective than a man who whines about greed, comrade. Thanks for your insight.

If you think the cost of production has not risen across the board as the dollar loses purchasing power by the day, regardless of the volume of units produced, I have a barrel of oil I'd like to sell you.

I'm not whining about anything, and I'm definitely not your comrade. I'm just calling it as I see it. Is it just me, or have these statues become lighter over the years? They've compensated themselves for the costs of materials by hollowing their product. If we don't draw a line, and we try to justify every shady thing a bussiness is doing, then the cost of the average statue will continue to increase at an alarming rate. I just don't see the extra money that I'm spending going into the statue I'm buying, but more so, into the pockets of some third party that's telling the company how to increase their profit. I don't mind forking out some extra money if I feel I'm getting what I paid for. I speak my mind because I have one.

OMG she's so gorgeous!!!! I want her so bad!!! :love
Hope i can afford her xx

I agree with a lot of these points. LOL harshly put a little :) but I admire you for being so blunt and saying exactly what's on your mind. I also like that there are so many varying points of view on these threads. It makes for an interesting read and good discussion. I'm not one to ever drink the Koolaid either if I'm spending money and seeing things I don't like. Sideshow has lowered their ES recently on major releases (Planet Hulk, Cap PF, Spidey Comm) so as long as they keep them collectible by doing this and their paint quality if fixed I will be back to spend money guaranteed. If Hot Toys ever starts making more 1/4 scale figs though then I might be done with Sideshow ES or not. Hot Toys is just too good and I prefer figs to statues as they are less fragile. :peace

This Wonder Woman statue looks fantastic. It will be my next purchase from Sideshow. They're still the best at what they do, so I'll continue to buy from them. I'm just worried about how long it will last.

Yup. The devil is waiting behind every tree to rob you blind. How you see it is obviously how it is. Comrade.

That's not true. It's actually a Sideshow employee wanting to sell us their statues at only slightly above cost price.

I'm sorry but no offense that doesn't make sense as companies like Hollywood Collectibles has acquired the DC license. Surely the DC license is not that expensive as waaaaay smaller companies are producing DC stuff with lower ES. Sideshow simply overshot the Batman PF ES and realized they needed to drop it for Supes PF. There is a small market of statue collectors, sure new people join everyday but how many stay or stay long enough to purchase a 400 dollar piece? Not that many. Many say they like a piece but will they actually buy it? As I said, the fact that Batman hasn't sold out his Reg PO for almost 500 days is very telling. There just isn't that massive a market of statue collectors and people like myself that are COLLECTORS lose interest if a piece is too mass produced. It's a fine line. I would be fine with WW having a REASONABLE ES of up to 5000 to 6000 in total, but anything more than that and I'm not interested no matter how good that sculpt. Reason being, I know I will be able to buy her way cheaper on the secondary market later on. None of the Sideshow LOTR stuff with a 9500 ES ever became highly sought after on the secondary market nor did it remotely go up in value. It sells below retail on ebay these days. It's not about the money to me though, it's that I want my statue REASONABLY hard to find and collectible. *cue angry village mob and pitch forks at my door* :lol:peace

Hollywood collectibles doesn't have the DC license. They had The Dark Knight license to do things from the film. Its a lot cheaper to get something narrow in scope than an entire catalogue. And if you notice their 1:1 busts are slightly more expensive than sideshows.

OY WANT MY LOW EDITION SIZE!!!!! AND OY WANT IT NOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!

Veruca_salt.jpg

I'll now picture every Freak who obsesses about ES as Veruca Salt! :lol:lol:lol

:exactly: :goodpost:

Dont forget Hulk maquette and anything that has a stamp that says "Limited Edition". Myself, Ive been in this game long enough to play it smart. Ive bought a Hulk maquette awhile ago knowing full well that it would never go up in value as long as Sideshow continued to mass produce them. I lost interest in it. Latest con had Stan Lee come around, and I had that btch signed, turned it around and sold it for a few hundred dollars more than retail.

Dark Rider of Mordor reg edition, ES "Limited Edition". I know Im not going to get my money back for it. I do plan on keeping it. But I did get a great deal on the secondary market a few months later and spent $650 firm instead of $800+ $50 or $60 in shipping.

My take is, if more collectors caught on and played it smart with every over produced or "Limited Edition" sized statues, and turned to the secondary market, over purchasing direct from sideshow, it very well could prompt sideshow to rethink their tactics and possibly remove "Limited Edition" or higher es than normal from the equation.

Why does the same GROUP of guys have to come I to EVERY NEW DC THREAD and start the SAME DAMN ARGUMENTS EVERYTIME!!!

"SSC is greedy!!"
"They are a company of course they want to make profit"
"The old statues were better, and the new ES are to high now nothing's rare"
"Who cares this looks awesome!! Just don't buy it if you don't want to"
"Maybe I won't"
"Yes you will!"
"No I won't!"
"Yes you will!"
"No I won't!"
"Yes you will!"
"No I won't!"
"Yes you will!"
"No I wo...... Hmmm that ES isn't so bad! Yes I will... But there will be QC issues"
"ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!"

Honestly, why can't you ES guys just leave the *****ing UNTIL we know what the ES is??? Then you can come back and lose your bananas. As for right now why don't we just enjoy this AMAZING PIECE!!! Honestly, the other discussion was old 7 threads ago IMHO.

Most of us agree this is a good statue.

ES talk usually comes from the lack of any other topic pertaining to the statue.

I get that Fox, but just look at THAT pic.... Certainly people could discuss it just a little longer before they started to ride the necrothread allstsr fight about ES size?? It got previewed 2 DAYS ago!

The more I look, the more I like. :D

I totally agree, and I like it a lot when I saw it the first time.:lecture
