My priority is character; price and ES are not as high priorities for me. So I wouldn't cancel my WW.
But while not following his actions I can still understand where mistermark is coming from. My first thought was does the statue not look as good because the ES is high? Is your value of the character affected by high ES? I think in terms of character and look of the statue. I like both, so it's a buy. Price is still a concern of mine, I don't want to pay more than what I perceive is the value of what I'm looking at, but a lower concern of mine is ES.
So as solo measurable units, price is somewhat of a concern and ES isn't as big a deal to me, but I can say that this got me thinking about the relationship between ES and price. If this was produced unlimited over several years and had an incredibly high ES I could care less. But if the price was still $400, I can't say I'd be happy about that.
Looking forward, let's say we're at Batman comic version PF #2 in a few years. Arbitrary numbers, but let's say the average cost of a PF is about $550. The ES of this new Batman (New 52, classic Blue, Dark Knight Returns, whatever) is 4500 for the EX and 7500 regular, which if the current trend continues, I don't think are far fetched numbers for the future. Inflation is real and will happen, but at rising costs and increasing ES, will you at some point question if it's still worth it? I love these characters and this art form but if the prices get too high and in my mind don't truly reflect how limited or not limited the product is it may not be worth it in the future to keep doing this. That said, I'd buy that "new Batman" with any ES if the price was fair in my head. It could be completely unlimited and if it looked good I'd be all over it, but i wouldn't pay $400+ either.
