Narrow my ***. They weren't ANY kind of zombies. They met no criteria for any version of Zombies.

Since you failed to acknowledge any of the evidence I provided for why your definition is narrow, I will simply ask this again:

If the events of this movie happened in real life, meaning people started dying of a virus that animated their body and caused them to chase after you so they can bite you,WTF would you call them if not zombies?

So, if you don't want to make a zombie movie, then don't base your film off a popular zombie book. Simple as that. And also, write a better script too.

Didn't read the book, didn't know it was based on the book.

On its own merits I have no problem with the script.

I'll tell you what, if this **** really, really happened, and not some fanboy's version of this event, I wouldn't call it a zombie outbreak. Because that would be so damn stupid to say. Even if they fit every criteria in the book. I would not call a living rotting human corpse a zombie.

Contagion was the best World War Z movie possible. It just didn't have any zombies in it. Yet, it was far more effective.

I just don't like CGI non practical PG-13 friendly infected monsters passed off as zombies based off a book I sorta know that's entirely about zombies.

Also, I didn't expect the characters to be so simple. That whole CDC scene was just so dull. Looking forward to the alternate ending. Sounded better then what we got.

Again, it just sounds like you ignored what the previews showed. It is clearly billed as an outbreak movie with zombies as a story telling vehicle.

The previews showed what we could expect in terms of CGI. Personally, I didn't mind it. The waves of bodies was a pretty cool justification for CG as it showed us something we've never seen before. The CGI in I Am Legend is far more distracting IMO.

Regarding 'simple characters', a few pages back someone was praising the movie for getting right into the story and not wasting time with backstory. I know you are sick of 'origin story' movies too. Not sure what you want. Personally, I thought the characters were perfectly believable, and Pitt did a great job.

I do agree, that the ending was a little weak though.

No need to get all "carebear".

The guys in the military called them "zeds". I can totally see real life military using that as a euphemism for "zombie" if the events of the movie were real.

what about this guy? (from Warm Bodies)

he is dead, he eats brains, he gets shot and nothing happens to him.

He is a zombie right? this is a real zombie, Technically he is a true zombie.

but if you compare him to the WWZ "zombies", those were much more scarier and more violent.

the zombies in WWZ are dead too so I don't know. You saw them die, you saw them falling from a building and getting up.

They were clearly zombies.

Yes. He's a reanimated corpse, is he not?

It's been along time since I saw it, but I dont think he ate flesh or brains, just terrorize and sexually assault Jeffrey Coombs girlfriend.

Just trying to make a point in a friendly way.

Let's just put it this way, the Zombies in WWZ are sanitized for the masses.

There are many different versions of the "lore". But I didn't see any of them in these WWZ things. Like I said, they were more like 28 Days Later infected rage monsters. Which, like I said, is totally fine.

Still. This movie felt really safe. There wasn't a moment where I felt like anyone was in danger. It felt very....Hollywoody and by the books. It felt like it was made by a commitee, rather then one director with a vision. Then again, don't think Marc Forster has a vision of any kind. He's a very generic director when it comes to Hollywood films. .

I **** on the Walking Dead a lot for being dumb, and having really horrible boring characters...but at least they pull of the suspense with the characters and make up. Which is my favorite part of a zombie film. The make up. That was a bigger problem for me then them not being traditional zombies.

But he's still a re-animated corpse.

Hard to disagree with that.

I can see that. But again, I expected a PG13 summer blockbuster because that's the impression I got from the previews. It delivered that. I don't need to see it again, but it was successful at what it tried to accomplish IMO.

However, I did feel enough suspense to keep my interest.

I see. Then this is all much easier to dismiss. :lol

But he's still a re-animated corpse.

And so are these...

Well, look, we know this isn't going to go anywhere. I hate this movie. I really do. :lol I thought it was boring, unengaging, and lacking in anything I enjoy watching in a zombie movie and or TV show.

You can't change my mind. :lol...I wish this film was never made.

I generally like stuff. I just like stuff to varying degrees. It's pretty rare for me to "hate" a movie. I have a hard time seeing how your feelings could be that intense about it, but whatever.

Did you like Star Trek Out of Darkness?

That and Pacific Rim were probably my favorite movies of the year so far.

I sorta liked Into Darkness. It was good, up until the end. Then it lost me. So I find it decent. But not good.

I really didn't like Man of Steel at all, didn't like WWZ, really hated GI-JOE, Hangover III was pointless, After Earth....haha....this summer frustrated me so much. It's too crowded.

I really don't get why you say this when people were getting attacked left and right.

Zombies were jumping on people and they were destroying cities. Pretty much everyone in Israel dies. The soldiers that were helping with the fuel of the airplane die, the family that helped them,
You make it sound like no one got hurt at all and there was no sense of danger when people did get hurt and killed every time the zombies showed up.

I agree that they played it safe with the PG 13 and the no gore stuff,

But if you added the gore you pretty much have a typical zombie movie. I mean if all you needed is gore then the movie could not be That bad.

there was definitely a sense of danger. You just hated it because of the absence of gore, and I get that, but it wasn't safe at all.
