Would you guys like to see more 1/4 scale comiquettes?

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death but though I voted Yes for more 1/4 scale comiquettes, it does seem like it would be competing with the 1/4 PF line which SSC might not want to do. For certain characters where there is not cloth, 1/4 comi should definitely be increased! For example, the recent iceman comi would have been sweeter in 1/4 IMO(design and other issues set aside). And I do think that reducing the pajama look is a must for PFs...ie having the soon to be Batman PF be a 1/4 comi over a PF would have been my preference.

Finally from Ask Sideshow

WHY SUCH A FOCUS ON PREMIUM FORMATS LATELY? JOKER, DEADPOOL, AND LOOKS LIKE BATMAN TOO. WHY NO COMIQUETTE LOVE FOR MARQUEE CHARACTERS?

If your interest in Comiquettes is because of the all-sculpture style, then take heart. You’ll be seeing more stylized sculptures under the Premium Format banner, and labeled as such to keep consistency in scaling. With or without clothing, if they’re 1:4 scale, they’re Premium Format. There are a lot of factors driving this decision, including production costs, sales, and Ask Sideshow trends, but we are prioritizing Premium Format (1:4 scale) over most other sculpture formats.

When a fully sculpted 1/4 scale Cap, Thor, Dr. Doom, and Hulk are made, I will be a true believer. When this happens I will have hope that 1/5 scale is dead and buried. 1/4 fully sculptwd FTW!

PFs make me happy but I wouldn't mind 1/4 comiquettes if it works better for the particular costume. Better judgment in what should be mixed media vs. what should be 1/4 comiquette is more important than doing one or the other just for the sake of doing it.

I could go into what people here want, but honestly if it makes money, that's what SSC will do. Excluding some individual pieces, PFs sell well. Therefore, SSC will make them. Highly vocal message board members are not the only customer base, the company has a wider range of customers to please. It's art, but it's also business and a lot of fans neglect that part.

But SS has made it's signature the PF, it's what the company is known for, and people obviously like them because for the most part they sell well.

Please keep them 1/5th

1/4 is just a little bigger than 1/5th but, it still is gigantic.

1/5th allows for good details and sculps without being gigantic and unobtaiable to some international customers

I would like to see them further xpand on the Spidey villain line. The venom, carnage, spidey, and rhino need an electro, scorpion, green goblin, mysterio, lizard, doc ock, sandman, Kraven, and shocker to go with them.

Personally I like mixed media over fully sculpt. It just adds another dimension to the statue.

I'm the exact opposite. I think cloth takes away from a statue. Especially when it's poorly done like the Colossus, Wolverine, & Sabretooth PFs. However, in the few cases where it's done right it looks great. Gambit, Mystique, Red Skull, Skaar, & Joker come to mind. None of them had full body spandex costume. So those turned out great. Batman may be the exception to my full body costume fears. I don't know what SSC did but the proto pics look AWESOME. I am going to give it a chance. Hope he turns out just as good as the preview pics. If that happens, I'll be more open to ordering some other PFs.

That all said, I just can't see how you can go wrong with a fully sculpted 1/4 piece. If the paint job is good, the statue will look great. 1/4 fully sculpted is still my favorite format.

Colossus PF? I think it looks great. Its not the skin tight costume like in the comics but then again comics tend to be unrealistic. Definitely better than the Wolverine PF, IMO.

Sorry, don't care for the Colossus PF. I like the costumes on my statues to look like the comics. Comics are the whole reason that I buy these statues. The closer a statue looks to comic accurate, the happier I am. Fully sculpted statues gives me that. PFs, not so much.

One thing about mix media versus fully sculpt is that there has never been a recast done on it.

Not true. The Hulk PF was recasted. However, they put sculpted pants on him. It was certainly easy to identify as a recast.

Are u sure? I've seen that and it looked like it was a custom modified piece to the Hulk PF.:stick

The only recast I've seen of hulk PF was that it was a smaller version to the PF which also had sculpted pants.

Yeah, that was the piece I'm talking about. I remembers posting a comment saying the custom piece looked good. Members here accused the dude of being a recaster and slammed me for being a supporter of recasting. I was a newb back then and just thought it was being made as a custom piece. Since that was so long ago, I'm not sure if the other board members were right about the guy being a recaster or not.

I think you may be talking about the custom pants Andy sculpted. If that's so, that is not a recast.

The other members are wrong. It was a modified Hulk PF with custom sculpted pants. It is definite not a recast :lecture

It wasn't Andy's Hulk. Think the guy was somewhere from a Asian country (can't remember which one it is). The dude was talented. He custom mod a lot of great piece. It was one of a kind mod that he did for someone as part of a commission. Very similar to my Emma Frost PF. :)

Correct. It wasn't Andy's and it was supposedly a custom. However, a lot of members accused him of being a recaster. When I said the piece was nice, peeps gave me grief as well. I think you are right, it was an Asian dude that was working on the piece. This was many years ago so the details are not ecactly clear to me. That and I'm too lazy to do a search.:lol
