Don't encourage him.
Pretty shocking to see how many fans don’t want Singer back. I do notice this trend though, that whenever his X-Men films come out, they get praised by everyone, and then months later everyone is back to saying Singer’s X-Men films are garbage. I still think X2 is easily the best Marvel superhero movie to date.
X2 as greatest? I don't think I can name one film as number one. I can't even pick my favorite out of X1 or X2 since both seem so married together. I watched DOFP last night, and I think my opinion on it has dropped off ever so slightly. I still think it was excellent, and I'm just glad it eradicated X3.
I give X1 a lot of props for pretty much kicking off the golden age of superhero movies, but X2 is just objectively better than X1, I don’t know what X1 does better outside of Wolverines hair. The action, acting, story etc…. all top notch, and X2 holds up a lot better than other superhero movies that came out around that time, like Spiderman 2.
I think DOFP is really good, and did a great job at sort of repairing the universe but theres just too many conveniences in that movie that sort of hurt it.
I like FC more than DOFP, but I think DOFP is the better movie.
I think he acted more like Wolverine should be in X1. Just a pessimistic angry loner. He became too much of a nice guy after that.
He definitely acted more like the Wolverine in the comics in the first film, but I still think his acting all around in X2 was much better than the first movie. Also back when X2 came out, this whole universe building and milking superhero projects didn’t really exist yet, I think they sort of had to evolve his character a little more quickly than they would if those X-Men movies were starting today. I Singer had planned to make two more X-Men films after that to wrap up the series, he was going to shoot the back to back so it really would have been one movie.
X2 had not one, but two great villains, at least 3 classic action scenes, an incredible intro, an incredible ending, amazing acting from almost the entire cast, I really don’t know what Marvel movie comes close to it. My only real problem with the movie is the fact that Cyclops gets kidnapped and is being controlled, yet Jean Grey never tries using her powers to find him, and sort of free him from the mind control he was in.
I was in college at the time, and was a lifelong X-fan going in. But my expectations for live action comic stuff was based on what DC did before that, the Lundgren Punisher movie, and the Hulk TV show, so I was quite pleased with the result.People don't give xmen enough credit. Xmen started this whole superhero every summer train . It was hyped up beyond belief coming out.
I was like 10 at the time and didn't know much about comics so I questioned why everyone wore leather and wolverine had no mask . Still a great movie and xmen 2 was also amazing. I hope they do jubilee a justice.
I don't think it's surprising that X2 was better than X1 in the eyes of many. There was a bit of a learning curve, as Singer was essentially inventing the modern comic book movie at the time. But X1 works on a lot of levels for me. I agree that Wolverine was better there. The best he has been in any of the X-films, in fact. Any undercurrent of danger or unpredictability was more or less removed, though the "berserker rage" scene was great of course.
And I don't even think the Cyclops thing from X2 was bad overall. It was done for the purpose of moving the story forward, and keeping an otherwise fairly major character from eating up screen-time. What sucks is that as a fan of Cyclops for 30+ years, they screwed him over again and again in these movies as a character One of my biggest hopes with the next round of movies, purely as an X-Men fan (and not as a film fan) is that Cyclops finally gets some much needed attention and some character development. He was the primary X-Man of interest in the first, oh, 150 issues of the comic anyway. It follows his arc from insecure teen to leader, to dealing with the transition away from the old team to the new one, to being in conflict with and then taking over completely from Charles when he is thought dead, to dealing with Phoenix, and so much guilt and weight of responsibility along the way. In the movies he's just a stodgy foil to Wolverine's affections for Jean.
I wonder how much screen time the new mutants will get in this film, I think it will be a lot like First Class where they got a decent amount of time.
I'm expecting Mystique to get the most screen time, especially since this is her last film. I wonder how they are going to end her character... she'll probably go into hiding or run away and just appear again in X1 as Rebecca Romijn. I doubt they will recast her.
I hope Jean and Psylocke kick ass in this movie.

If I had to guess, it will be substantial considering they're going to be the main cast in a film or two. So they'd want to build them up as soon as possible.
