I was thinking that, she could be Jennifer Lawrence even in the future, just project her younger self.

Hadn't seen this before...

Pretty cool seeing them side-by-side.

I think he does work out, but I also think he has said hes had various cosmetic surgeries in the past, I'm just drawing a blank as to who the interviewer was.

:nono

That last sentence about Blade and Spidey 2 came from the author of the article and not HJ since the quotations were no longer present.

Sorry HJ, Blade beat X1 to the punch.

Besides, there are absolutely other directors who have made increasingly better movies in a franchise as it went along.

LOTR
Godfather1/2
Spidey1/2
BB/TDK
Terminator1/2
Some would even argue Superman1/2 if Donner if he had been left alone.

I bet Whedon will be joining this list come 2015.

What did BS follow up X2 with, Superman Returns :monkey4

Don't make me call Nam on you Nova. :lol

I think the key here is making a third film that's even better than the first two. That really hasn't happened yet. As many people might say they love IM3, could they also put IM2 higher than the first?

Singer has a huge advantage of getting to work with the Origins cast and getting relevant and awesome villains like the Sentinels to throw them up against. In theory it could be the best yet.

Peter Jackson still beat him to the punch.

Nolan would've if he didn't release that lame follow up to TDK. :slap

Blade isn't consider a superhero movie though. X-Men was the first of the Superhero Marvel movie and started the sub genre that's still going.

As for his comments i think he means directing a series that gets better with each movie. I don't think anyone has done that, beyond two movies.

LOTR is a very different beast though. At least for comic book movies, Singer has a shot to make another mark for himself with the X-Men franchise. He might even redeem himself for SR. :horror

Ledger dying had alot to do with that. It might have been better if everyone could just walk away after that but for what it was, I look at it as a noble effort to pick up the pieces if not ever so slightly misguided.

Agreed. But Raimi and Nolan can't place there are they let down the quality with their Thirdquels.

If DOFP is better than X2 then Singer will have directed Three X-Men movies where the quality has gone up with each movie he directed

It's still irrelevant because it won't even be the third X-Men film. Including First Class (which is a huge chunk of what he's writing from), there've been two films between. That's not even including Origins, which, will likely have influenced minor elements as well.

Jye's point was that Singer will hardly be the first. Even with the discounted Nolan and Raimi.

:exactly:

I give credit where credit's due. While BLADE may be the prototype that paved the way for the Marvel age of cinema, the film, in and of itself, was seen by most people as a horror/action film... NOT a comic book/superhero movie. Even as a kid, I didn't realize BLADE was based on a Marvel character until after the film came out. It was sold as a horror/action mashup. X-MEN, on the other hand, was the first serious superhero movie to be a success after the failures of BATMAN & ROBIN and STEEL.

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that he is a superhero from Marvel Comics. :huh
