So is this now going to be a First Class sequel or a sequel with the OG cast? And if it's the latter, is Jackman on board or is he still holding out?
The original cast is getting really long in the respective teeth. My bet (and hope) would be on the First Class bunch, plus a few new characters, or new actors playing characters from previous films. Apocalypse is a major X-villain of course, and worthy of being the major baddie in a film. But damn if I wouldn't prefer a more classic antagonist--Mimic, Mastermind, Proteus, Freedom Force, Marauders, Reavers, Alpha Flight, a decent Phoenix Saga film with the Shi'ar Empire, Starjammers, etc., even Arcade.

How about they use Apocalypse in the next movie to reset the whole damn thing so we get the actual founding members in a movie. Cyclops, Beast, Ice Man, Jean Grey, Prof X, Magneto and maybe some Wolvie on the side. Replace everyone with the possible exceptions of Stewart, McKellen, and Jackman (though by the time this movie comes out, younger actors might be the way to go). If it sucks at least it'll give me a reason to get off the comic book movie train for good. :lol

I'm up for either. I wholly enjoyed First Class, but there's also something magical about Stewart and McKellen as Xavier and Magneto. Be nice to see them without a Wolverine-centric story. :lol

There's even the potential to do Onslaught which would be a great way to introduce the rebooted FF and have them linked to the X-Men ala Avengers.

I would totally go for that. Or even start with the "All New, All Different" team, to make the Wolverine fit more natural, but make it comic accurate so past members would be Beast, Iceman, Angel, and Marvel Girl. Give Cyclops a chance to actually develop as a character, allow Nightcrawler and Colossus to behave as they do in the comics, etc.

:lol

DOFP will most likely simplify things and move the series in a different direction, maybe bring back Cyclops, but they aren't gonna discard 13 years of movies, it won't happen.

I'm thinking Apocalypse...

May instigate the creation of the Sentinels with Trask.

Fox is doing a better job of copying Marvel/Disney than WB/DC are.

:lol

Sony is just making Oscorp the Movie.

If this fails they could just go back to Raimi to make Oscorp: The Great and Powerful.

:horror Insert groan here. :horror

Yeah, that would be a worthy cause for a reboot now that First Class is getting tangled up. Who knows? I'd love to see the true original lineup though. Maybe force Angel through his transition at the end of the film (Archangel is too cool not to be onscreen).

Following the announcement yesterday that 20th Century Fox will be following up next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past with a sequel called X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that screenwriter Simon Kinberg has inked a three-year deal with the studio to help them create a "Marvel style" universe for both their "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" films.

"I have a lot of ideas on how to build those brands and do what everybody is thinking of these days: Be like Marvel," Kinberg said. "I want to be able to build stories over multiple movies."

Kinberg wrote the screenplay and produced the upcoming "Days of Future Past," and is also heavily involved in getting Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four off the ground as both a writer and producer. In addition to making a cohesive universe for their Marvel-based films, Kinberg will be working on original properties and lesser known adaptations for the studio.

This news calls into question the role for Mark Millar at the studio, since he was hired back in September of 2012 as a "Creative Consultant" on all of their Marvel comics properties. It remains to be seen if Millar is no longer functioning in that role at the studio, but check back here for more details as we learn them.

20th Century Fox's next Marvel based film is X-Men: Days of Future Past, which hits theaters on May 23, 2014, followed by The Fantastic Four on June 19, 2015. The studio also has another solo "Wolverine" film in development with both James Mangold and Hugh Jackman set to return as well as an adaptation of "X-Force" from Kick-*** 2's Jeff Wadlow.

It's great if they can make it work, but the X-Men and FF weren't really the types of groups that would collaborate very much. Sure, they know of and respected each other, but the X-Men were outsiders and freaks, while the FF were darlings of the public. But they did both face off against cosmic threats from time to time, so there's that. Phoenix would make for a nice crossover movie. Or Galactus. But there was a FF vs. X-Men mini-series, and for all I know they could have been interacting a lot over recent years, as I stopped reading most Marvel stuff in the mid-'90s. Franklin being a mutant could certainly make for some good interactions--maybe the FF have to learn to overcome their own prejudices when they discover his mutant powers.

X-Men have only recently begun interacting with other Marvel characters. They've had one or two crossovers over the years but few.

Kinda why i like X-Men books. You buy an X-Men book and you get only X-Men, unlike others where you buy a Thor book and can have characters you don't care two ****s about taking up space in his book.
