The Corman FF isn't one of those "so bad it's good" movies. No it's like if the next door neighbors you hate put on some blue shirts and made a home movie. It's simply unwatchable.

I'm late to the party on this one, but to Khev's question, I think X2 is one of the best comic movies in existence, and memorable scenes contribute to it, but aren't the primary reason for it. It is great because it feels like the comics. Specifically, like it could have been a storyline from the Claremont 70s/80s era X-Men comics. It worked in all the ways it was supposed to work, and it was fulfilling. There was drama, tension, action, it was well made, the actors did a good job, the characters were characters I knew and cared about as a kid behaving (mostly) as they did in the comics. The détente between Magneto/Mystique and the X-Men was terrific. Villain was awesome. Wolverine was great. I don't see a lot of flaws with it. I guess it isn't as "deep and sophisticated" as some argue the Nolan Batman movies are, but I rank it up there with Avengers and Spider-Man 2 as some of the very best comic adaptations come to life on film.

Probably why it hits home with so many of us long term X fans. To me Claremont had some of the greatest X stories ever and they still endure now if I pull them out for a read.

By "memorable scenes" are you referring to the scene where Magneto and Mystique are "tee-hee-heeing" like little school girls about Rogue's white hair? That definitely seemed like something the badass Magneto from the comics would do.

Heh, I'm just giving you a hard time, that's cool that the movie worked on so many levels for you (seriously.) I got the obvious references to acclaimed comic storylines but it actually was missing that crucial "feeling" of actually being something from the comics.

Lol, I was trying to give karamov a hard time but I think I might of made the internets explode. :lol

For the record I thought X2 was decent and The Incredibles was downright stupendous.

XMen 2 was a lot more faithful than GI Joe Rise of Cobra, a movie you seemed to enjoy Khev.

Oh Rise of Cobra was utterly awful but I am a sucker for ROTJ-esque endings with tightly edited three way battles so it got props for going out on a high note. But still, what a wretched, wretched movie. :lol

Better. Now just admit that you've never watched Avatar all the way through because it was so horrid you had to play frisbee with the disc halfway through. :nana:

And yet you're completely gay for TDKR which couldn't be further removed from them. :cuckoo:

And I agree with Nam re: Nolan. I think those may be the most well made films inspired by a comic book I've ever seen, but he took such liberties that they resemble nothing I had ever seen before. Most of the villains were only superficially similar to their comic counterparts. Sure, no movie version of a comic book is a perfect adaptation (apart from Watchmen) and really, I don't want it to be, but I do enjoy seeing films that can capture the spirit of the comics. Avengers modified Hawkeye and Nick Fury beyond recognition for example, but it still very much felt like a great Avengers yarn.
