I wasn't. For the time, effects limitations and zero faith in a Marvel film franchise with Punisher flopping the year before (outside of Hulk which was TV only) which meant LOW budget - especially for a Captain America origin movie, it was fairly solid. And to put things in perspective, that was 8 long years before Marvel would find success with Blade.

Yeah I wasn't basing my expectations for Cap off of the crappy Punisher movie any more than I was basing my expectations of Batman 89 off of the crappy Superman IV. I just remember than when B89 was all the rage Entertainment Tonight did a behind the scenes report of the new Cap movie acting like it was going to be the next big superhero thing. Then there was that theatrical teaser trailer with the shield flying against the starfield and I was getting pumped. Then 1990 came and went and it never appeared in theaters and I finally tracked down a VHS in 1991 or 92. Yeah...was not into it. :lol

I should try and find a copy now though and see if I can enjoy it on any level at all with a totally different context.

Wolverine sleeping while wearing his most kick ass cinematic costume and claws to date :(

Yeah man, his future suit was SO badass. And he did almost nothing in it.

You know I just thought of a funny thing that Marvel could do. Have the most bizarre Cap movie imaginable. Weird freaky crap with kaiju or the world blowing up or something. And then end with him being awakened by the Avengers half encased in ice. :D

I still think those future suits were pretty terrible across the board. Though I dug past Magneto, I definitely give Winter Soldier the win in the costume design department.

I loved the 90's Cap, but I also haven't seen it since the 90s.

Yea, Cap definitely wins in that category but I did love past Magneto, Future Wolverine and Quicksilver's costumes.

The X Men costumes is something I've never been a fan of. That's something the Disney/Marvel films do better than Fox. All the X Men costumes look the same, black leather and some armor...boring. At least Magneto doesn't wear black. The funny thing about the Wolverine costume from DOFP is that underneath that unnecessary chest armor he was wearing, the costume was yellow and blue, like in the comics. I wan't to see more diversity and colorful costumes like the Disney films. I'm actually glad they weren't wearing any costumes in the 70's scenes.

I'm still waiting to see these costumes on film. Disney would do it.

Even Bishop looked lame, imo.

the villians in all the Iron Man movies were lame and forgettable.

I dont even know what the hell the third one was about, I zoned out after 30 mins.

I'm not 100% sure we would. Marvel Studios borrows pretty heavily from the Ultimates looks. So, no helmet for Thor, Fury looks the same, Cap usually wears a more "realistic" helmet and "tactical" suit, Hawkeye looks like some special ops guy. I might expect more of this:

But, yeah. Better than black leather.

A mash-up between Jim Lee design and Ultimate X-Men designs would be great on screen. With a broader color palette and the right nods to the source material they would look every bit as cool as the Avengers, and 1000X better than the friggin biker outfits. Not sure if you'd ever get a mask on Wolverine, and I don't think it really matters or even makes that much sense. For the most part he's the only major X-Man that wears a mask. An iconic design for sure, but it serves no practical purpose that I know of. Maybe if it were all black he could wear it in a scene or two for stealthy infiltration like a Ninja, which would tie it back into the Wolverine movie I suppose. That would be a nice nod to the fans like the first appearance of Thor.

They could say that it creates additional "intimidation" of foes or something if an explanation is needed. "The fact that you can't see his face makes him even more frightening!" Like a Batman type explanation. Or he might want to disguise his likeness to help protect Mariko once he was appearing with her in public. Or, it could symbolically represent something. I'm sure a writer could think of dozens more.

it was pretty obvious singer had a hard-on for black motocross gears and shat...even the professor gets to wear one. form over function.lolz

I don't get why they have to dress the same. I think they should each have a unique costume/style and just put an X somewhere to show that they are part of a team. I would like to see more blue instead of black, and Rouge would look awesome in a dark green and yellow costume with the brown leather jacket. The next film takes place in the 80's, so I'm not saying they should go Miami Vice style with all the pastel colors, but more colorful outfit would make sense. Storm should definitely have the mohawk. Wolverine could wear a brown and orange suit...if yellow is too colorful for some people.

I don't feel that characters ALWAYS have to wear their trademark look. James Bond's signature look is the tuxedo, but you don't see him wearing it in every scene. The same goes for almost every film character with a signature look. Like you said, Wolverine could wear a mask in a few scenes and that's it.

Would be great to see a couple of the artists that worked on Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy show some concepts of what X-Men and FF could look like in the Marvel movie universe.
