That's probably because you and the rest of the audience in attendance are unpatriotic unfeeling communist heathens. :nana:

Sounds like kara saw TFA in some Parisian theater pub where they were handing out copies of Mark Millar's first "Ultimates" series to all who walked in the door. Needless to say his fellow European cynics were less than impressed.

Even his own wife was all "Sacre bleu! I hated that movie!"

"I can do this all day" vs. "go eff yourself." That really says it all right there, doesn't it?

While I never followed either's comics, don't those quotes sum up the characters in a nutshell?

And I laughed at Wolverines line. Just like everyone else. :lol

Maybe. But I always thought that sacrificing yourself for the collective was a communist concept. Maybe that was the group Khev saw his movie with, and so it was the first scene where they saw something they could really understand and get behind.

I suppose it is. It's not exclusive to communism however.

As a Marine veteran I've always believed that self sacrifice was to protect/help others and/or to advance a cause.

Sounds like you're letting the missus dictate what your movie opinions are. :monkey3

Well if you see Cap, Thor, and IM2 as existing primarily to set up Avengers (and of course that was one of their primary purposes--look at the title of Cap's film!), then I agree with you. They did set the stage for Avengers quite well. We knew where Cap came from, we knew who Loki was, we knew Stark was looking into creating this team, etc.

Goes back even further. Fury's appearance in IM1 discussing the Avengers Initiative shows Marvel's intent from the very beginning was to plot the road to Avengers.

The fact that First Class was awesome despite kid Banshee, kid Havok, Darwin, and "Angel" is a testament to how well made a film it was.

The fact that TFA was average despite having one of the best comic villains ever on the screen is a testament to how. . .average it truly was.

I really like TFA, one of my favourite MCU offerings. But First Class is better.

The X-Men movies have their faults, but as far as comic movies go, only Nolan has done drama better IMO.

Agreed

Someone should do a FC vs TFA poll, if TFA wins I might just retire from life.

:exactly:

"Peace was never an option" alone makes it better than TFA.

Fixed :D

Honestly after decades of this:

I just couldn't be happier that its even a topic of *debate* that we have at least one Cap movie that may or may not be as good as TDK. Just that it's even mentioned (and rightly so) is mind-blowing in the most awesome way for me.

I don't recall those being bad for the times they were produced. Nowadays people can point, laugh and mock, but if you were there and living through it, completely different story. West's Batman gets the same amount of disrespect for the very same reasons.

Those old Cap and Spider-man movies were the best as a kid in the late 70's and early 80's!

Finally got to watch this X-men movie and thought it was great, but I would put TWS a little above it in the total enjoyment factor.

I did like the Reb Brown Cap when I was a kid but certainly grew out of it by the time I hit my teens. I was very disappointed with the Matt Salinger straight to VHS movie from day 1 though.

I enjoyed the 1990(?) one when I was a kid, but even then knew it was pretty cheesy. My dad somehow got me a copy of the '70s ones and they didn't do much for me. I did really enjoy the Hulk TV movies though.

DOFP action = ok
Cap 2 action = mind ****ing blowng
Excess shakycam nearly gave you an aneurysm, as well? :(

I wasn't. For the time, effects limitations and zero faith in a Marvel film franchise with Punisher flopping the year before (outside of Hulk which was TV only) which meant LOW budget - especially for a Captain America origin movie, it was fairly solid. And to put things in perspective, that was 8 long years before Marvel would find success with Blade.
