The modern "conservist" boogeyman is " THE GAY AGENDA" since "interracial marriage" has become accepted. thus, it gets painted anywhere they can find it.

I'm not saying that Is what Skywalker is/was going for, but i do see how his post could be read that way.

The theme of persecution & acceptance in society is universal for race, sexuality, species, culture, religion & nationality.

It's a relatable theme to many people.

Since none of his X-Men movies had forced gay characters or same sex kissing i don't see how his sexuality is a factor.

And if he did have Northstar as a character with a oiyfriend i still don't see the probem since being Gay is part of modern enlightened society

:goodpost:

I was just about to post something like this, but you said it much better than I would have.

That's just bizarre that people would jump on the gay thing.

lol, that sounded dirty...

Well it relates personally for singer because he is gay. My intention was not to blast his sexual preference but to point out that his sexual preference and his personal experiences seems to drive a lot of the themes in his movies and the films he chooses to make. Maybe if he toned it down a bit in future projects he can return to form. There were none of these themes in usual suspects or apt pupil.

And yes it doesn't have to be a gay connection, themes of societal acceptance can apply to religion, race etc.. as you mentioned. Sorry if my post came off as anti gay conservative as that was not my intention. I was trying to explain maybe why his movies have been going down hill, and the agenda comment made by another poster made me think about it.

No worries Skywalker. Upon re-reading your post it sounds like your simply pointing out that he chooses projects that resonate with him and his experiences, not his lifestyle being wrong.

Absolutely, Skywalker. I didn't take what you said as "anti" gay.

Again, Web-Slinger has taken the words right out of my mouth (sounds dirty too!):

I think of it like that perhaps he recognizes his own feelings of isolation and being an outsider from being gay is a universal feeling that most everyone can relate to, and thus enforcing that we are all basically the same, despite superficial differences.

:peace C'mon people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together try to love one another right now! :)

You forgot two.

Little shop of horrors.
Nightmare Before Christmas.

Also, possibly Gremlins 2, IF you count it.. becuase it's only 1 song .

That's a weird Catwoman costume.
That's what it is, with all that black leather, right?

all kidding aside... it needs some yellow, and her headress to make it work.

I think the worst part of this costume is that it almost looks like a harness for flying. I never minded the cape/wing she sported in the comics, but this doesn't give that vibe, especially with those awkward looking shoulder pads.

Let me start off by saying that I'm a gay dude and I did not think you were coming off as anti-gay when I read your post.:1-1: But I do have to disagree with you on the whole "his sexual preference and his personal experiences seems to drive a lot of the themes in his movies" that comment could apply to the X-Men movies and maybe Superman Returns but if Singer wasn't gay that connection could still be made due to one of the many other societal issues that have been mentioned.:dunno Being a gay man myself, I tend to notice a connection like that whether or not it is done intentionally, and I really didn't get that vibe from Superman Returns. I did think the "peeping" on Lois and the fam was a little too much though.:cuckoo: Geez Supes, stalk much? Honestly I don't think his movies have been "going down hill" sure maybe he had a little slump, but if anything, with X-Men: First Class he has proven that he hasn't gone down the Uwe Boll road quite yet.:horror:panic: Anybody can end up Directing/Producing a "Jack the Giant Slayer" but he didn't write that one so it's not completely on him. Just my 2 cents.:wave

Also, Andrew Lloyd Weber musicals.

Seriously though, musical films back in the day (40s/50s) were often quite good, and could be enjoyed by anybody. Singin' in the Rain is a masterpiece. I don't think anyone would accuse Frank Sinatra of starring in effeminate films, but he was in several of them, as was Bing Crosby. But then, those films weren't all that different from most regular dramas of the time with no music.

^^ Olivia Newton John musicals do not fall under that spectrum. :lol

Blues Bros = acceptable because of mass property destruction and general lawlessness.
