I'm hoping this movie will encourage more people to check out Fassbender's older work. You can't keep talent like his hidden forever. His role in Hunger is one of the best performances by any actor over the last five years.

:lecture He's the man. I watched Inglorious Basterds last night just to see him in another movie. I'm about to order Centurion next.

I hope captain america and green lantern and transformers are good because right now xmen first class is best movie this year for me!! The other movies will have to step it up, thid movie was soo underrated for me before i saw it and it just blew all my expectations !!! I guess i personally hyped up Thor to much , thor was good but way before xmen first class!

Just came back from the cinema and I must I say, I really did enjoy the film. Will rate it 9/10! Love the emotions shown in the film. Great acting by the cast too esp. Fassbender, McAvoy & Bacon!

Can't wait for the sequel!

just saw the movie it was very good quick question if was to quick what mutants were in the scene where charles has on cerebro ?

I saw Storm and Cyclops--both were kids, Storm with long white hair, it focused on her for a second. And then Cyclops was later and off to the left of the screen, wearing sunglasses.

Projected $56 million this weekend.

From Yahoo.com

Fox distribution executive Chris Aronson said the studio achieved its goal of opening the prequel at about the same revenue numbers as the original "X-Men."

"This is just an excellent start in launching a brand new chapter of the `X-Men' franchise," said Aronson, dismissing comparisons to the $85.1 million debut of Hugh Jackman's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in 2009.

I was hoping the numbers were much higher. Fox seems happy, but to be honest, I think had they done a better job with their marketing campaign, we would have seen a much higher turn out. I think word of mouth should help, but I don't know how much at this point.

Opening weekend is only one part of the equation. If this can stay in the Top 10 for the next month which would be difficult because of all the heavy films hitting, it'll be lauded as a success.

Considering how little faith licensees had in the film, there were no figures, no Sideshow license announcement, nothing really except minimates and the HT announcement there wasn't much behind it. Considering how little there was behind, I would say that the $56 Million is rather astonishing.

The first X-Men film is on FX right now and it's shocking how the opening to X-Men: First Class mimics the opening to X-Men 1. There are subtle differences be overall it's a goddamn mirror. Singer wasn't ____ing around when he was taking this thing back and connecting it. Even down to the damage to the fence and the way Erik is stopped. Also this film curiously completely negates Jean Grey's speech given that the government already knew about Mutants existing....it is a strange piece that connects yet disconnects at the same time.

I doubt Singer had much to do with that. Matthew Vaughn stated that he made the film he wanted make and he didn't give a **** about what came before. There's a quote of that somewhere.

Was Stan Lee in this movie?
Just saw it---longer than I thought it would be....Still like THOR better

Yeah, Avatar only made like a maximum of $70 million so it's possible this will have some staying power.

$56 million is great for a movie marketed as horribly as this one.

Add that to the little faith that people had in it to begin with, $56 million is a victory. The problem is there was no reason for it. The marketing attempts (ie trailers, promo pics, etc) were sub-par, even for Fox. Fans and movie-goers alike picked up on that a long time ago and I think opinions may be too far biased at this point. Positive reviews will obviously help, but reading headlines like 'X-Men mutants weaken with $56M prequel debut' and 'X-Men box office falls short' will definitely not persuade 'average joes' to go see this. And that's what this movie needs to stay in the "Top 10" for a while.

I hope it does though. Well worth the money.

I dont remember seeing him in the movie. Maybe he was Mystique with the makeup on.

Stan was not in it. In a recent interview he joked about Fox's decision and said they feel they'll sell more tickets because people will go back to catch his cameo. This was all in humor of course, but the crowd got a good laugh. They do kind of have a point though....:lol

I think they should've had him in the Cerebro portion that they had Storm and Cyclops in. I still don't remember seeing Cyclops in it, but I guess this means I need to go see it again.
