I find it hard to believe that then he'd be okay with throwing a token black guy into the mix just because.

Well I'm not saying that Singer gathered the writers for a story meeting and said "okay where can we throw in a token black guy," I just think they could have done a better job of not naively creating a guy from the ground up that for all intents and purposes comes across as a direct throwback to those types of characters.

I liked how Banshee and Angel were executed I just wish they didn't limit themselves to mostly characters that didn't appear in the first X films. I think the narrative would have been stronger if Havoc was Cyclops, Banshee was the real Angel, and "Angel" was Wasp.

Oh and probably swap out Azazel and Riptide with villains people actually remember from the comics. But even saying all that they still did a really, really, really great job with what they had.

But don't get all mad and go on a huge rant just cause someone doesn't like something you do. It's just my opinion I'm not trying to change yours.

Trust me I wasn't "all mad" nor was that anywhere near a "huge rant" just stating an alternative view to your thought that he should have been killed instead of how did you state it? The B.A. Darwin? Calm down.

I completely agree. It would have been neat to see Cyclops and Jean, Angel and Bobby in this and have Toad and Blob or any of the original Brotherhood really but I think Singer wanting to tie this to his own movies handicapped that a bit. Still a fantastic movie but if they had just decided to scrap everything and just go with this as square one, it could have been legendary.

I would have enjoyed it much more with those characters in it. I went to see it with a friend and it killed me when she asked questions afterwards that I couldn't really answer because I didn't know much about the characters.

I am calm. Matter of fact I'm chill as a cucumber. And yeah Darwin is a B.A. Banshee just looked like Ron Weasly Screaming. But I get it if you like him. I personally didn't like the guy who shot lasers out of his chest either or Angel. Magneto, Azazel, Shaw and Charles are best hands down.

So apparently X-Men: First Class was about gay love that was destroyed by society?

But circa 2011, cultural divisions over race have been supplanted in the popular American consciousness by a debate over gay rights, and the latest X-Men film has updated Professor X and Magneto's adversarial relationship thusly. Sure, a lot of stuff blows up, so it's partly just a summer popcorn movie. But the film can also be easily read as a gay pride allegory, as well as a story of true love gone horribly wrong. (Among other things, by the end of First Class, Professor X affirmatively chooses to stay in the closet and not frighten the straights, while "mutant and proud" Magneto embraces the "drag" of a flamboyant costume.)

That's exactly the impression I got while watching the movie as well.

I haven't bagged on him that much, I just stated that I didn't like him. I'm not going off the comics. I haven't even picked up an X-Men Comic in my entire life. Just watched the movies. But Banshee, was really lame to me. He was the only part of the movie that I felt added the cheese factor in. I dunno, Maybe if they gave him something a bit cooler to add to his power. Not sure, but to me Darwin was MUCH cooler.

Well said, but you gotta understand the guy is a nerd, so it is his duty to go off on you. ;)

I've come to expect every Singer movie to have a "Just in case you forgot, I'm gay!" scene somewhere in it. Beast: "They didn't ask, so I didn't tell." Yes Singer, I know you're still gay. Now can we get back to the X-Men please? Thanks.

Aha! Watching Inglourious Basterds right now and think I recognize the pig farmer from First Class. After FC I was trying to think of what else I had seen him in. He was the guy that had Bond enter the password to claim his winnings in Casino Royale.

Sooo, uhhh yeah, that is all:wave

X-Men First Class: 9/10..... Great movie, exactly how it should have been done, but I do wish that they incorporated the original first class other than Beast and just forgot the cheesy Singer versions.. Though i did love the Wolverine and Mystique cameos
