Yes, thank you. This is exactly how I felt about the movie. The movie was great overall, but I really wish they'd instill a stronger bond between those two characters like they had in the comics.
I actually agree with this...
I did think the movie was awesome though.

I did feel that they took Magneto too far in this one. They should have planted the seeds and left room for more work and friendship off screen. I think the implications of his decisions and actions showed where he was ultimately headed, and I would have rather seen things end on an ominous note of uneasy friendship. But instead of a rift we got the complete breakup way too soon. I would have loved to see a sequel show more strain and disagreement, etc. But maybe they weren't sure if they would get to do another, and so instead we get the fast forward jump to the Magneto we know and love in the space of about two minutes. They maintained a steady, measured pace in his character development until the very end--and then rushed it.

It's still one of my favorite movies of the year, so far.

I disagree. It's like the PT. We spend 3 movies on a path we already know the outcome. It gets boring. Yes...we know Erik is going to go all evil...but what I liked about this was he didnt go evil. He went his own way. Charles understood it. It wasnt a huge "OMG ERIK WHYYYY!!"

I really liked that. Plus, it didnt set up anything that, in the event we never see a sequel, we wont have to be stuck waiting.

We got the end we did so that it could stand alone, I think. In the case of no sequels. I wish they'd had Erik come around at the last minute, but acknowledge that one day he won't and he'll go his own way.

But with the way they parted, with neither one of them truly wanting to go their separate ways, I think there's room for play - the right threat/situation could bring them together again.

I felt their bond was very strong, given we just have this one movie for it. The actors' chemistry was off the charts. And when they had their moments they were very compelling. IMHO, most movies don't achieve such an emotional bond between two characters nearly that well - even with sequels attached.

The problem I had with the end was it does not mesh up with X1, which was, as Magneto put it, his first move. FC ending makes that seem like a "first move" more than anything.

Also the helmet. That helmets ability to block Charles was clearly shown and known by charles himself. Yet, in X1 he acts surprised that Eric was able to block him with something and Mags tapping at the helmet as if it was something new.

Eh, oh. Still a good movie, not great.

Maybe he thought the helmet was silver and grey and that was an exact duplicate from Shaw's painted red! :slap

I love how at the end of the film, when Erik basically gives the mutants the ultimatum that they're either with him, or against him, The Wind Mexican and Azazel look at each other like "Well, we're out of a job now," before being like "____ it, whatever..." and following Magneto.

Hope you enjoy it!

This is the first movie I've ever seen twice in one day - I went to the midnight show and then went back again that Friday evening.

I'm sure I'll end up seeing it again this weekend.

Just saw Green Lantern. Meh.
I still love X-MEN 1st Class, and still think it's the best comic movie of the summer for me. Really awesome soundtrack and 60's vibe. Erik was very cool in his ways. Just love this movie! Very good script, intelligent, good acting and emotions. Good stuff.

X-Men = best summer movie for me and likely best movie of the year.

I love the soundtrack - I love how there were several moments in the movie where the music stood out in a scene. When that happens, I usually always purchase the soundtrack.

The score is amazing. But the movie, and score go to Super 8 for me. Love that flick.

X-Men is a very, very close second/

The score was amazing, X-Men first class to me is one of the best superhero films, right up there with batman begins, the dark knight, and iron man, i am really looking forward to this trilogy. This is way better the Singers X-men.

You know what they should have done?
Killed that screeching kid instead. Darwin was WAY cooler.
Agreed

Screecher dude was cool, but Darwin was just such a likeable character imo, and his power was very interesting. When I first saw him on screen, I knew he wouldn't live much longer.
