Do you have to have some kind of contrast like that for it to work?

If so will NATAL come with a red jump suit in the box? :monkey1

See this:

And this:

From Kotaku, 06/12:

Project Natal Does Not Require Red Jump Suits to Play

When Kudo Tsunoda took to the stage on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon earlier this week he and everyone else playing the game were decked out in matching red jump suits, leading some to speculate it was because of tech issues.

Not so, says Microsoft. The red jump suits had nothing to do with Natal's difficulty in picking up certain types of clothing or to compensate for the studio lighting, it was just a joke.

"Actually, the red jumpsuits were just for laughs," a Microsoft spokesperson told Kotaku. "The Jimmy Fallon crew wanted something funny for the guests to wear and decided on red jumpsuits and turtlenecks. We just wonder if the red jumpsuits will start a new fashion trend."

No. No, they won't.

Re: The NATAL Thread

Sorry for being overly skeptical. :monkey3

Problem is that NATAL demos are still mostly in a controlled environment. I know some of the press got to try this out and it seemed fine, it's just the whole thing smells a little fishy.

...and you'll have to forgive me if I don't totally believe the word of a Microsoft spokesman.

No, I think most of us are skeptical at the moment. It's good to be cautious of corporate schilling and hype, but the fact that Msoft has demoed Natal to many enthusiast gaming press outlets (a very discerning and merciless crowd) as well as on Jimmy Fallon proves that either it works or it shows how far Msoft is willing to go for deception, and I don't think the latter is the case here.

In any case, I wouldn't really mind if they pack in red jumpsuits...it gives the feeling of futuristic attire. :lol

Re: The NATAL Thread

Just saw the video for this. Wow, I'm pretty excited with this NATAL project they are doing.. Hope it is as good as it shows on that video.

Re: The NATAL Thread

looks wild but driving a game with your hands in the air, think i will stick to my forcefeedback steering wheel.

and that tech demo trailer with the girl interacting with the little kid, is just scary to me i can see people having virtual kids and girlfriends they come home to and talk to their televisions and show them what they did at work and stuff. creepy i say :p.

Re: The NATAL Thread

This video would have been better if they had hired a more well endowed actress. :monkey3

Ballmer Confirms Natal Xbox 360 In 2010
By Sean Fallon, 4:59 PM on Thu Jun 18 2009, 7,998 views

At the Executive's Club of Chicago, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer let fly in a speech that a new Xbox 360 would be hitting store shelves in 2010.

The new device will be equipped with technology that is "really, really, close" to an actuality. The console, which was described as having a "natural interface," will have a built in camera with the ability to recognize movement and voice.

This, of course, is referring to Project Natal—and it backs up earlier rumors that a new console would debut in the fall. But the question remains, are we really talking an entirely new console here or simply some sort of bundle? As you might recall, Microsoft's VP of Interactive Entertainment John Schappert referred to the Xbox as being "less than halfway done" earlier this month. So, things are a bit confusing at the moment. [TG Daily via Crunchgear]

I couldn't think of anywhere else to post this, so I thought it should go here. IGN posted a pretty funny video recently and I thought I would share it with you all. :D

Re: The NATAL Thread

If this is true, then I'm out: https://www.techflash.com/seattle/2010/03/notes_on_project_natal.html

13 ft?!? Before this thread suddenly fills with suburbanites posting "I don't see what the big deal is, I sit 8 million feet away from my TV. Doesn't everybody?" I'd like to point you to this poll run on Gizmodo last summer: https://gizmodo.com/5277417/how-far-do-you-sit-from-your-hdtv

Not too many people sit over 10 feet away from their TV's. Even you do, you need to move the couch unless you have 13 ft of space between the front of the couch and your TV.

This just doesn't sound right. Hopefully Microsoft will clarify that this is a misunderstanding... :monkey4

Re: The NATAL Thread

I won't be able to use it. I sit about 7 feet away from my 52 inch. LOL! I don't really care either. I don't see me using natal much.

If you go back to the first article in your post, the writer updates his article stating his mistake. 13 feet is the maximum, not minimum, or so corrects himself.

Re: The NATAL Thread

https://www.vg247.com/2010/05/27/rumour-natal-to-be-formally-called-wave/

Microsoft is to officially announce “Wave” as the formal name of Project Natal at E3 in two-and-a-half weeks time, according to NowGamer.

A source close to the firm apparently told the site the announcement will be made at the motion tech’s special pre-E3 event on Sunday, June 13.

It comes as rumours emerged last night that the camera would cost $149 at release which would be on October 26: the date would fall in line with the timeline given by an MS Saudi Arabia rep earlier this month.

A bundle with both the camera and an Xbox 360 Arcade is also set to drop on that date for $299.

Not much else was given in the NowGamer piece other than just the name.

We’ll email Microsoft on it, but don’t go expecting anything unusual if a coment is given.

Re: The NATAL Thread

The real question is...does it come bundled with a red jumpsuit?
