I don't know about Kinect right now...

From what I saw, the early games (with the exception of Dance Central) are pretty weak. I'm more interested to see how mainstream games and franchises integrate Kinect.

Also, there are some functional issues that I think may arise based on what I saw. For example, the idea of waving your hand to control the console. All voice commands require you to say "XBOX" first to activate commands. From what I saw, hand gestures do not require this activator.

So what happens if you're watching something and inadvertantly move your hand in a casual movement? Will you end up triggering Kinect and causing an unintentional action?

After watching the press event, I think I'll wait for actual in-hand reviews and commentary from gamers when Kinect hits stores.

It is a cool technology but I don't care for it. Same reason I am not a fan of the wii, I just want to sit there and play games.

I just noticed that the new Xbox says "Kinect ready". I'm guessing that existing users will need to plug in to a USB but the new users will have a specialized port?

The thing that's going to kill Kinect is that people who have a 360, don't want the stuff that's coming out for Kinect and the people who do want it won't want to shell out $450 for a Wii 2 - They'll just wait for the actual Wii 2.

That's why it's going to be very important for developers and publishers to begin integrating Kinect into their games as soon as possible.

This was hinted at in the video of Forza Motorsport 4, but can you imagine if the new Call of Duty game had the option to use Kinect to fire weapons?? That alone would sell countless Kinects this Christmas!!

But nope...not happening.

History has shown that these add-ons do not catch on unless they are bundled with the system when the system is first released.

I like the idea, not sure I need one. The games seem kind of novelty. But it's a step in a new direction. The wii was innovative, the Playstation move looks and feels like the wii in HD, and this seems like something new.

It seems like a basic combination of the interface from Minority Report and the computers in Star Trek.
