Re: The NATAL Thread

Lazy name change, but understandable. They really coulda just left it as Natal. Weirdly named electronics sell, don't they? (Wii)

Re: The NATAL Thread

Microsoft entered into a marketing agreement with Justin Bieber (I know, ?????) to promote Natal at his concerts with demo kiosks. The reaction on the official Xbox Facebook page is a riot (both figuratively & lierally): https://www.facebook.com/posted.php...d=129437240415712&comments=1#s129437240415712

Some great comments (among the expected vulgar ones). My favorite:

Justin Bieber?? why not get someone more popular.... Like Osama Bin Laden, or the CEO of BP??....

:lol

Seriously, what marketing fool at MS thought this was a bright idea?

So it can make a skeletal map of you.

Great, now instead of masturbating on chat roulette, people can masturbate on this thing and CGi themselves at the same time..

I don't think it's a bad idea. I'm sure the majority of folks who go to Bieber's concerts aren't the type who follow gaming culture like we do. If Natal is there, they'll give it a try, and they might like it, which means an extended sales reach to non-gamers for Microsoft and the Xbox brand.

Also, I doubt those who really like Natal but hate the little puke would be put off of a purchase just because it'll be demoed at Bieber's concerts.

Re: The NATAL Thread

Its the way it comes off, its now associated with Justin Beiber, and I personally want zero association by contact or anything else with that kid. It seems like they are marketing it to 12 yr old girls which makes it seem stupid or childish to a 30 year old adult.

Re: The NATAL Thread

You must not have read the reactions, then. :lol

:lol I read some of them. There's a lot! And I'm sure most of them follow the same pattern. They say they won't buy Natal just because Bieber is marginally connected to it (and really, it could've been any high-profile singer celebrity)...I don't believe them.

That's the possible danger here. This really could backfire. I mean, they posted that on their own official FB page and it exploded with over 1,000 comments in under an hour... ALL of them negative. Seriously, go read them. Funny stuff. :lol

Re: The NATAL Thread

Now I know why those folks are really pissed and going ape on there. It's not just the Natal thing... XBOX 360 is THE official sponsor of the Justin Bieber World Tour. :google

Re: The NATAL Thread

Oh man, the Beiber is gay comments are mental, so many of them.

I wonder if he saw that page. :lol

This has to be one of the worst reactions to an announcement I've ever seen. It's comedy gold.

Re: The NATAL Thread

I don't see what the big deal is, but I guess the reaction shouldn't be much of a surprise. Gamers are known to overreact.

:lecture

But it does go without saying that it's pretty telling if Microsoft is at all surprised that their hardcore followers are having this reaction to the news. People ARE over-reacting (in dramatic, hilarious fashion). But it's a perplexing decision, to say the least. I know companies want to expand their markets by enticing other demographics... But it should never be done in a way that completely turns off & angers your hardcore consumer base at the same time. People will be fired over this.
