Given what it looked like on the video I would've given it a 9/10. The arms since he didn't zoom in on it didn't look bad to me, that's what hairy body parts would look like, grey patch area where hair would be from far away. The masked head is my favorite and the unmasked screaming is my second favorite. The sad panda face wouldn't see the light of day so if XM wouldn't have included it I wouldn't have cared enough to even rate the statue down for that. The base detailing and paint and paint up on the body and clean lines alone makes the statue a 7, then the additional things like metal claws, and wiring and light up bump it to a 9. It's the best 1/4 scale Wolvie on the market.

I wouldn't be able to deduct points for that third head. If XM didn't include it, it would get a higher score, so you're actually giving it a lower score for them giving you more. Seems counter-intuitive haha.

I don't understand the rationale behind penalizing this statue due to the calm head. This is what people preordered, it's not like the calm head changed drastically from proto to production, it's always been very mediocre at best, and I guess that whoever dropped big money on this knew that the calm head had this sculpt.
So, exactly, how can it detract from the piece or lower the score? Seems very unlogical to me.
BTW, great video. Imho, this Wolverine is an awesome statue and still worth the price tag, especially for those buying it in XM's areas. The details are in a whole other league than any other Wolverine out there except the Resinworx, only real "miss" are the head sculpts. Out of 3, one is useless (known since PO), and the other two might use a slight tweaking.
I think XM can still set the bar higher by putting more effort into portraits. This Wolverine, even in this realistic rendition, could have used rougher head sculpts, with a more grizzled look, more savage. The ones we got are good in my books, but XM can improve a bit by finding the right way of really sculpting the essence of the characters, this is a character where going for a slightly dirtier look would have been a step forward.
Judging by the artwork, their Brown Wolverine was going in that direction, hope it gets green lighted sooner or later...

The review is not fair cause:
-All the 3 heads were shown before! We all know that how they look like before pre-order so the neutral head could not be a let down! Also the reviewer has to watch more Bela Lugosi movies as Dracula cause that portrait does not look like him! Although he doesn't look like Logan either but in terms of painting application he is very close to the proto so no problem for the ones who purchased!
-Only problem is the hair on his arms which is a very reasonable point to lower the score! In fact the proto had the same hair issue but XM explained that they are aware of it and will be fixed at the production! Yes they fix it but not in a good way! I have so much trust on them but if I pay 1000$ for a statue, it has to be perfect! I am a collector who is criticizing Sideshow very hard for those things so I have to be objective! If XM differentiates himself as a premium company so that hair has to be sculpted and painted like the rest of the product! The close up photos are like a child paints it! If I will repainted it by a customer so why the hell I pay 1000$? I am really so disappointed!
For the rest he looks nearly the same as the proto which is a very rare thing in the market nowadays. I am waiting for mine patiently...

The masked is the one with the mono-tooth right? I wish they would have fixed that. (Will fix it*)

There is no really "mono-tooth", just the down area is to close.

I think people dont think about the story behind the third head.

This was the cigar head, disney canceled. XM said for the respect to the artist we
produced it and it is just a bonus. So you are right, lower score for a present. :wink1:

That's a great close-up, Grumpy.

Its a pic from Kenny Tan.

I do wish, though, that XM would have sculpted in a snarling mouth so we could easily roll in a stogie

That pic was shown on SF and people did point out that it shows the first cases I f sloppy paint apps we have seen from XM. Parts of his teeth have been painted red as if they were gums, and parts of the gums have been painted white as if they are teeth, and the lines on the mask are a bit wavy. Now those are MICROSCOPIC IMHO, but I can see how it would bother some who are paying the massive premium it takes to get these shipped to them.

As for a customs head for this one I can only assume it is being done. I could probably do one up.

XM with paint issues??? That's not XM right??

Well, I don't want to keep kicking this horse, but if you look at the teeth below there are parts of the teeth painted red, and parts of the gums painted white. Also the black lines that go up to the crown of the head are quite wavy. Again, they are so small that it is a bit like a witch hunt to find them, but they are there.

I said this over at SF, and I will say it here, I don't know if it is unfair or fair, but many people have come to expect PERFECTION from XM, and I do mean PERFECTION, and if they don't get it they expect a response. I also believe that many simply focus on the premium they had to pay to get the piece, not what XM ACTUALLY made/charged for producing it. I think this piece looks great, BUT guys are going to microscope these things to death.
