LOL, was he a friend? I've had other peeps try to touch my statues or pick up switch out pieces in my collection. I've stopped them all cold. Just my Cuz is allowed to do that and he always asks me if he can first. Given the aftermarket value of Mags though, I can totally see not wanting to handle any of the switch out pieces.

LOL... He may grow to be, but he was a customizer I was talking to about developing some of the switch out parts I have been sculpting. It was totally like he had invited me to hold a live grenade... lol.

I hear ya. I wouldn't feel very comfortable handling a piece like Mags if I wasn't very close with the person who owns it. Even then I'd have 2nd thoughts.

There is few people I let touch my statues, once I get my xm mags there will be a stricked no touch rule for everyone. If you pay 2k for something you get to be a **** about it if you want.

Hey bro, your piece, your rules. For me personally, it doesn't matter how much you pay for a statue, if you don't want anyone touching your collection, peeps should respect that. Before anyone new sees my collection, I immediately tell them no touching anything before we walk into the room. My friends and family already know the rules. My Cuz is ALWAYS courteous enough to ask if he can handle something before he attempts to do so. That's common respect from a fellow collector. Bottom line, it's your stuff and peeps should respect that.

Took mine out of the box today. Got 241/800 with a coin. This piece was amazing and I wish I'd received it under better circumstances. As it is it feels a little sad having this. Me and a couple of friends ordered 3 pcs very early on from our local distributor last August 8 but only received 2 pcs. The unscrupulous distributor blames XM for cutting their order but I believe they should not have sold what they didn't have. They probably figured they could sell them for more in the aftermarket.
I wish XM could better police their distributors or penalize them for such behavior. Sideshow at least manages to have official distributors you can rely on. It's kinda hard to collect a line when your retailers or distributors can't be relied upon. Main reason I quit the action figure hobby. This has probably given me my worst experience in the hobby. Seriously reconsidering our commitment to XM after this fiasco.

Nice pics. You can't fault XM for things a retailer does. If it was up to just XM they'd be able to sale directly to everyone. I wouldn't order from whoever you ordered through again though.

yep very true, Most people i don't have problem with usually i just tell someone they break it they buy me a new one at after market prices that gets them to back the away pretty fast lol

While I agree that you can't blame XM I do think they are trying to get on top of it. SSC has ways of dealing with retailers that are trying to shaft customers, and I am sure XM will do the same if necessary.

Greattoys online. Difficult really since XM is allowed to sell here in the Philippines and when I paid the XM studios a visit they confirmed that GT was a legit dealer for them. I do wish they could do what SS does and allow the distributors ample time to get in their orders or at least inform them of their allocations beforehand. I think that's why the official distributor for SS here had difficulty selling their product. They were afraid they would tarnish their rep if XM wasn't able to fulfill their orders. I think allocations should be made clear to the distributors before they are allowed to accept preorders. I'm still hopeful that XM being a new company would learn from their experiences and find a better process.
That being said, I'm really happy with their products and wish them more success. Just unsure now how this can continue in the long run. While some collectors might like the thrill of chasing after a statue. Some of us just want the enjoyment of getting them without the stress or heartbreak of unfulfilled expectations. For me a much harsher experience even than bad QC.

Since XM can directly sell to people in the Philippines I'm surprised you just didn't order directly from XM to begin with....

Why do people order from their LCS instead of directly from sideshow..

I don't, it's cheaper to go through Sideshow plus it's easier to get replacement parts or refund directly from the manufacture then a 3rd party...

No disrespect intended...but it is commonplace for retailers to sell product before they have it in their possession. In many instances, distributors want to know in advance how many pre-orders a retailer has secured for a product before deciding how much to allocate to that particular retailer. Similarly, many retailers use the number of pre-orders as a way to gauge how much product they want to order from the distributor.

In a perfect world every retailer winds up receiving full allocations every single time. But we don't live in a perfect world, and every company from SS to XM is going to occasionally "re-allocate" the distribution of their products. Are there some retailers out there knowingly playing games with customers regarding pre-orders? Absolutely. But there are also retailers out there who legitimately believe they are going to receive "X" amount of product and offered pre-orders accordingly.

Anyone who elects to pre-order a product assumes a certain level of risk. If you are unwilling to accept that risk, then you might want to consider another hobby. Another alternative is to only purchase products from retailers who only have products in stock.

This piece is a game changer...the fact it was pumped out in that short of time, with such high quality...and we pretty much got to watch the entire process unfold...is amazing!

No worries. Just wanted to see how you guys would feel about this and if we have a legitimate complaint. I'd always thought that if you accept payment for a product or service then it is your responsibility to fulfill that order. Does this also happen with SS?
I actually don't know who to blame right now and I'm thinking this is just a glitch in the system that hopefully they will correct in the future. I'm quite sure I'll be staying in this hobby. Just might stick with more SS stats for now until the XM process gets better or is more reliable.

@dan350zr I actually ordered the Phoenix stat direct from XM. Seems like the better way to go about it in the future. XM doesn't offer preorders early enough though and I figured ordering earlier would be better. As it is I still have the Thanks and Wolverine on preorder with the same distributor and the Phoenix from XM direct. Will be buying the Mark7 and Sentinel sets next and Might just order with XM direct.

In fairness XM has been very prompt answering our questions and that seems promising. I've also met the guys at their studio and really believe in how they're getting all this done. You'd be surprised at how such a small team could deliver such great work. Maybe the answer would be to let official distributors preorder first before determining ES or just letting them know beforehand their allocations. I believe that should work and if they announce it officially then we'd know to place the blame on the distributors if orders are unfulfilled.

XM already sent out notices to their official resellers telling them not to do pre-orders until the official date. So if a reseller is taking pre-orders before they actually know how many they will get then their violating XM rules...

Anyways it's 100% the resellers fault for over selling the statue.

That noticed went out AFTER all of this crap happened with Magneto though. The FLURRY of interest that happened with him is what changed how XM had to do business. Before Mags it was quite easy to get a PO of an XM piece, but he kind of changed it all to the Wild West... lol.

Yup. That was after magneto. I think it was for the Phoenix or thanos preorder. The reason why I ordered Phoenix directly from XM. Oh well. I just hope moving forward things get better. The statue after all is flawless. They just need to get the distribution right.
