Anyone else notice the change in the SGD to USD? where it was around 0.82 USD to 1 SDG it's now 0.72 USD to 1 SDG, on a $750 SGD XM statue that's a savings of $75.... every bit helps :)

Hell yes, especially with how much these pieces run you shipped.

Yeah it's tough to decide when to pay for these things. Like it may be wise to pay for the rest of my POs soon in case the SGD gains strength again. Sadly I can't throw down for all my POs in full at once, because it would be a HUGE savings.

My take is this guy will retain at $2.5k value over years. It MAY go down when other companies start using the 3D print technology and trying to up one another and creating newer and better statues. Hell, if this thing goes to 10k in a couple years, I might as well buy good 3D printer and print my own statues :lol

Good luck. Youre going to need $30k+ to get a decent printer to produce large scale statues such as these. :lol

Real issue, I think, is that HD printing costs a hell lot. "Normal" printing is decent/good/acceptable for raw/non extremely complex sculpting styles or simple textures, but when you want crisp details and clean textures, HD printing becomes necessary. Something as detailed as Magneto (or Resinworx's Wolverine) is no joke.
Don't know, I don't want to get hyped about the whole "do it yourself" 3D printing argument. Fifteen years ago people had the exact same expectations with videogames, everyone was talking about "we'll be making our own games in ten years from now!", truth is that the market evolved in the complete opposite direction and nowadays is even more a monopoly of the usual 2-3 publishers that rely on the usual 2-3 software houses.

Plus each "printout" cost several hundred dollars in material. And you still need to model it in 3D or have a 3D scanner, which is also ridiculously expensive. And you still have to paint.

Would be good to reproduce small broken parts or small custom parts. Or bases for extra headsculpt.

Guys are doing sculpts themselves. However, yes they are very expensive; about $1500-$2500 for a 1/4 scale statue. You are totally correct when you say it is the HD printing that costs the big bucks during the entire process, and not everyone who has an 3D printer can do it.

You know they come out in pieces right? :lol

keying up a statue to be printed up is time consuming and you need to have a feel for where to do it, but after you have it printed you can have it molded and cast. Guys like XM and SSC have all of those resources in house so to speak. The guys doing unlicensed custom statues are charging a lot for each statue because each statue costs a lot to make.

For all you throne nut jobs this grail just went up. I got a thread up for it in the video game tab. Get it while the getting good.

I honestly like the polystone Kratos statue more than that. I'm also a bit of a non-fan of Gaming Heads. They haven't really impressed me with any of their previous statues. :)
