It was conceived as a Com and would only be 1/5 scale. The whole project was scrapped so if SSC does a Phoenix PF, it will be an all new design.
Now that is one design I like even without the bird, a better pose and anatomy and cheaper

Although the cancelled SS Phoenix did have the Phoenix bird behind her, just not as tall. I still liked it though. The face Mark Brooks gave the bird was a nice touch. It was a 1/5 Comiquette so the XM would still rule in 1/4. It'd be nice if SS could still get it out as a Dark Phoenix PF but they seem to be done with this whole idea.

Yeah that Phoenix was nice but back then everyone in this board was trashing anything not 1/4 scale. The old 1/4 scale or fail days
Meh...If a statue looks cool to me, I don't care what the sale is.

Design looks great but SSC has proven they won't go that far in detail on Marvel stuff anymore so don't get your hopes up...plus its 1/5th scale = fail.

As someone owning both lines the XMEN 1/4 scale line turned out fail imo. The longer I have collected the more I realize it takes so much more than scale to b a great statue.
I like the SSC design but even if it would've been produced I'm not sure I'd like it better than the XM. Maybe the face would be better but overall I'm not sure if the design is quite as impressive and dynamic as the XM. Either way it still would've been a cool piece, but too bad for it now. It was confirmed to be cancelled.
I think SS is just hit or miss but definitely nails a good level of detail on Marvel stuff, just not every piece. For every detailed piece like Allied Cap, Gladiator Hulk, Red Skull PF 2, etc, there's a Jean Grey and Emma lurking in a weird or boring pose on simple base.
It's definitely had QC problems (Rogue, Psylocke, Apoc) and some uninspired decisions (Jean, Hellfire Emma) but there's some good X-Men statues in the line up.

One of the things that irks me is the awkward head/neck position, did a quick photoshop. Let's see if XM can tweak this.

actually, urs looks more broken to me. with her back arched the way it is, her neck and head should be back that far...its anatomically correct...
