SS Xmen line is like when I stay up last minute to do an assignment 8 hours before the project is due. Doesn't seem like SS put much effort into it. Other than Gambit, the rest are just so so.

Can anyone of the XM Reps tell me what costumes are being used in the X-MEN line? Phoenix appears to be in her classic 80's costume and Wolvie seems to be in the same era (with some liberties taken with his gloves and shoulder pads). However, on the Wolverine print I'm seeing Cyclops in his 90's Lee costume. Are the rest of the future X-MEN releases in their 80's (Byrne) or 90's (Lee) costumes? This is important to me personally. Whether or not I buy Phoenix hinges on the answer to my question. I'm not looking for who else is getting released in the X-line. I just want to know what era of X-MEN we are dealing with for this line.

Hey filip629, let me check that with the style guides we are given and come back to you on this.

:goodpost: I feel the same way. SS really had little to no creativity with the X men line. they just threw it out there. It's funny to see how they can have a whole part of the website dedicated to the court of dead with character bios and intent for the line and a unified theme pouring full of creativity. Yes, I am very impressed with what they plan to do with that line. At the same time its hard understand how they could pour so much talent and energy into that line when they have not done MAJOR characters like Magneto or Phoenix. Just crazy. I love the creative approach XM is taking! Im in this for the artistic creativity. That's where my money tends to flow.

I can help you with your quandary friend in three words

No Licensing Fees!!!

Let's hear it for court of the dead!!!!!:clap

Haha but in all sincerity it is an awesome line. Bought the queen . She is Art Germs afterall. The rest.. well don't really care about em! But they are nicely done.

That, right there, is some dedication to the comics....... You should be CBG.

LOL! I can't help my LOVE for the Byrne era X-MEN. This may be my only shot at them in 1/4 scale and fully sculpted. I sure as hell can't count on SSC to release them anytime soon.

I'm hoping we get the Jim Lee stuff, but it's going to be hard to pass up on any from either era.

We already have 1/4 Jim Lee pieces. Just pick up any SSC X-MEN PF. They have just about the entire line going in Jim Lee's style. I hope XM goes a different route. I'm really hoping XM gives us a classic X-MEN line. It hasn't been done in 1/4 scale and it was an immensely popular time/run in comics. The Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne run is what put the X-MEN on the map. Those are to this day, still the best X-MEN stories I have ever read. I also have Lee's entire X-MEN run and enjoyed it very much. However, we have 1/4 Lee statues available for those that want them. A 1/4 classic line is way overdue and XM has an opportunity to fill that void. I'm really hoping they chose to do so. I can honestly say if XM chooses to go the Lee route for their X-MEN line, they won't see any money from me. I'll even pass on Phoenix. I don't want rare oddball classic releases. That'll just frustrate the hell out of me. What good is Phoenix if I don't have any of the other X-MEN I need to display with her?

Phoenix is a tricky piece for me. Love the figure but dislike the base. Most peeps say ignore the base. I have a hard time doing so. I wish she was on anything but a Sentinel base. If XM goes the Lee route with their X-MEN pieces then Phoenix is meant to tie in with those other pieces. This is wrong on every level to me. First off, Phoenix hasn't fought Sentinels to begin with. Secondly, even if I can look past that and say she did, she certainly didn't do it with the Lee era X-MEN. That's why I wish she was on a cosmic base of some kind. At least that way, she can be a stand alone piece in peeps collections. Now, if XM decides to do a classic styled X-MEN line (on Sentinel bases) with the rest of their X-pieces, I can deal with the Sentinel base for Phoenix. At least she'll be fighting along side the characters of her era. Any other way just doesn't work for me personally.

Someone give this nerd a chill pill, he's ruining my XM buzz..... :)

It's true we have SSC Jim Lee X-Men, but few of them are worth having. I love X-Men, but I only bothered with two of them. It would be nice to see them done right.

:lol OK, works for me. For the record though, I don't think asking characters to be in their correct eras is being picky.

Perhaps it's not up to XM. Maybe their license is specific on what they can and cannot produce. I only suggest this based off this comment:

Yeah it kind of is bro....but there is nothing wrong with your wants. But in this industry there is always going to be a little give and take. XM has guidelines they obviously have to stick to and may not be able to stick to what you particularly would like. Personally, I am right with you in that I would prefer the Chris Claremont era style of X-Men.

The difference between others (including me) and yourself is we are not going to not buy great representations of characters because they all don't derive from the same era. As long as the era (Jim Lee) is done, that is fine, because the Jim Lee era was awesome in his own right. But don't throw no Grant Morrison furry ugly ass Beast in with the rest of the X-Men line that is Chris Claremont.

But I do have some leeway with different eras. I will gladly take a Jim Lee Rogue (action pose...not that dumb look in the air pose SS did) and put her alongside a Chris Claremont brown and yellow Wolverine.

Yeah, but to ask a company to stick to one particular era is a little well... entitled... lol

Not asking for that. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE for the Byrne era X-MEN to be done. However, an 80's era Phoenix statue battling Sentinels along side 90's Lee X-MEN statues doesn't work. Where's the 90's Jean Grey? Is Phoenix taking her place? Is she being dropped? Would that be cool with collectors who are going to drop major $$$ to collect the XM X-MEN line? Dude, if you think I'm being picky, check out the Emma and Doom PFs threads. Peeps are slamming the hell out of those bases over there. Maybe if we put them on top of some Sentinels, everyone would be happy. :lol

I'm of the opinion that if you are going to do something, do it right. These characters are based off a comic history. Don't ignore or dismiss it. The best pieces have not only a great sculpt but all the accurate little details that make it great as well.

Look I really like what XM is doing. I know that they are a new company with a lot of excited fans. However, I see SSC threads where peeps are just hammering SSC for their choice of bases (Doom, Emma, or any X-MEN or Avengers PFs) yet it seems that XM is supposed to be given a pass. Sorry, I don't work that way. Whenever I see something I think is off, I have no problem bringing up the subject. By the same token, when something is perfect, I have no issue saying so.
