I am kind over xm and their $1000 price tag (after shipping). If I get it great if not I won't lose any sleep.

Every statue needs to be a perfect grail to command this kind of retail price. Reality is once you go above the $500 level, the statue market demand shrinks significantly and most times you will lose your shirt buying $1000 statues at retail. Magneto is really the exception than norm. And those are still mass produced at same chinese factory (with better qc) we are not talking anything special like the ed209/Cain puppets or Winston predator.

They need to find a real distributor in USA and get the license sorted out.

I think you still have a healthy market in the $1000 range, I think it's once you start going above that it starts to thin out.... Of course the $1000 market won't be as big as the $400 market but you do get what you pay for IMO... I haven't been very impressed with a lot of the $400 statues of late... In order to even get them to look right I have to spend another $300+ to have them repainted.... Not to mention the shipping back and forth between you and the artist you hire...

If you can live with "" Just OK "" statues then the $400 market is for you....

Agreed, tbh if i miss out on Phoenix on preorder day those not mean you can never get her again.
I remember the original ARH Medusa i missed out on her but got her eventually for the normal price just never give up on searching for your personal grail simple as that kinda the thrill of the hunt too am i right?
Don't worry yet about Phoenix, just make sure you are ready to PO around 18h30(European time) on 31st October. Simply Toys will have enough of them in stock and I can't imagine a lot of collectors have already 5 XM-statues with them.

I am sure they will have a few hundred of Phoenix statues and I think you will have at least 1 hour to get your order in:)

From a business perspective, if you made a promise to keep numbers under 1000 (maybe even be contractually obligated to do so) it would make little sense to purchase the license for US distribution when you're already selling out. Why reduce profits when you're already selling out? Then again I don't have a phd in business so what would I know? Lol

Sometimes I wonder if there are more than XXXX amount of Hot Toys Iron Man VII Battle Damage than advertised. I once talked to my dad about how Sideshow made lets say 1500 copies of a certain statue and he replied by saying "How do you know if they made 1500 copies or more? How many people do you think might have the same number?"

If XM Studio advertised 1000 limited copies of Phoenix, I too don't understand why don't they just accept all pre-orders like everyone is a winner. Produce that amount and bank off possibly 1000+ copies of Phoenix? Besides, who is really keeping track of how many copies they are going to sell to retailers. There could be really 3,000 Phoenix copies out there and what are the chances of people posting online and realizing someone have the same 0678/1000 number under the base?

Because is they did that, no one would purchase from them again. There's no trust to be put into that company anymore

I think XM has a database so you can encode your Statue Number and keep records of your collection
Even changing ownership

Consider that only a fraction of the price goes to XM's pockets when they sell outside of their licensed countries. I mean, shipping eats like 200-300$ per statue, that doesn't go to XM. If (and I say if) XM could sell in Europe and USA directly, the shipping costs *could* drop and XM *could* have a little more edge of profit - but we really don't have enough details to know, probably as you say the cost for a worldwide licensing would be higher than the slightly bigger profit.

What time is that in the U.S.?

Can't wait for the bird in the back. Her neck looks a bit awkward from some angle.

Not a good time to be a 1st time XM buyers with no prior established relationships. Me trying to secure a Phoenix is as hard as...

So in other words...you are supportive of XM engaging in deceptive advertising in order to generate sales?

XM made the decision to openly inform customers that their edition size would not exceed 1,000....they are in the process of trying to build their business model, reputation, and their customer base. To knowingly attempt to deceive customers is recipe for disaster. Think about the amount of anger expressed by forum members when discussing instances when SS delivers a final product that appears to differ from prototype they used to generate orders.

Buddy it's painted by the same workers in the same factory that made the $400 I guess you be sending all of them to repaint too....

Is it though? I received ARH's conan the sacrifice and the paint is amazing..I have my commander shepard $350 piece and I had to get it repainted..most $350 pieces do need to be repainted/can be improved. Even my $600 apocalypse needed improving…whether or not I get an XM piece and think the same thing remains to be seen, so who knows. Hopefully though, as they claim every piece is qc checked in person by them, that a repaint won't be necessary as it is for some of the cheaper pieces.

So what is my best bet here? Simply toys? I just read on statueforum someone saying you can't be eligible for early pre-order unless you pre-ordered other XM pieces. Is that BS?

lol, a few are done at the same factory that XM uses, the majority of their statues are not.... One only has to look at their latest example Red Sonja to see what a horrible paint application it has. The Same with there just released T-800 statue... great sculpts horrible paint app's.... Now weather or not your willing to accept it is up to you.
