Looks good. Both of them.

I kinda wish they left the sculpted bandana as it was on the prototype. Sure there are improvements there, but it also gives his head a much rounder shape. In that regard, I prefer the artisan. But I'm liking the sculpted overall, for the finer braids etc..

Although I wonder how much more they restrict articulation.

Anyway. Guess I'm keeping the hat on. Gotta work around the strengths and weaknesses of every figure.

Thanks everyone for sharing the pics and videos.

Decisions, decisions….

As impressive as the rooted head is on a technical/realism level, the overly thick dreads are throwing off the framing of the face to the point I’m finding the likeness slightly better on the sculpted tbh. I’d ordered the Deluxe, then put an order in for the Artisan off Waitlist as well (FOMO!), and now seriously thinking I may just opt for the deluxe as originally planned. Holding out for a couple more in-hand impressions to sway me, perhaps some optimal futzing is possible with everything being rooted, but ultimately I think it may just be too much hair to cram under that bandana at this scale.

Holy **** that Artisan hair looks sooooooooo goooooooooood to my eyes, freakin love the look of the dreads but the added girth doesn't look that great. I PO'd the deluxe, happy with how it looks!

Gonna be my first Jack figure, for me, theres something about the DX06 sculpt man, I think that looks so good but I'm happy with this ofc.

Something I like about the sculpted braids is they blend less with the elements, which gives a more layered appearance.

There's definitely a dent in realism. But on the other hand, the sculpted shapes capture the details with more precision.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

They've treated me like absolute **** man. Shady awful business when they can get away with it. They straight up robbed me once with a lost figure. And they made a habit of passing me returns instead of brand new figures.

I'm not in the states, and shipping rates can be particularly expensive to where I lived at the time. They know offering an exchange would be costly for them, so they'd pin the blame on customs for opening my packages, disregarding any evidence otherwise, or any damage caused to the contents.

Ordering from Hong Kong seemed risky, but I couldn't deal with Sideshow anymore. I cancelled my last order in 2021, and I haven't looked back since.

That’s a bloody shame

That's awful brother. Sorry to hear that.

I've got just 1 order left with SS, never buying **** from them again!

Btw, how're Toys buying agent and Pop collectibles, especially price- and customer service-wise? Rn my go-to store is Gundamit. Awesome folks. But often they don't solicit every figure of the same company.

What a nice way to start off the new year. There's an expected downgrade from the prototype and I still don't like the neutral sculpt but I'm satisfied with the smiling one. Bulk aside, the artisan version also looks very well done, it has way more detail and trinkets on the braids than the sculpted version. The only thing I don't really like is the hat, it's enormous and just completely wrong.

Really like how the artisan turned out. I don’t think the width of the bandana will be that big of a deal in hand. The rest of the figure looks so similar to the DX15 though, I’m hoping to see a detailed comparison between the two sooner than later.

My only major complaints are that it’s not Pirates 1 Jack, and they still can’t get the hat even remotely close to accurate. I have the hat from the first HT Jack MMS 42 on my DX15 and it looks great, so I am planning to display this version without the coat or hat on.

Alternatively, I could cancel this, just keep my DX15 which is already awesome, and put this $500 towards the JND Jack coming next year. Decisions…

JND are doing a Jack Sparrow?!

I agree, for folks that already own DX15 there's not much of an improvement here but I personally prefer the base and the smiling head on this one and there's the added bonus of the belts not being pleather. Overall this release is for people like me who missed out on the previous releases and didn't feel comfortable with the aftermarket prices for the DX15.

Now if only they'd give us a new Davy Jones...

Disclaimer: I have never purchased from either store.

I've heard nothing but great things about Toys Buying Agent and I would purchase from them if the situation where I needed to find a certain figure arose.

With Pop Collectibles, I would never touch them like I never touched TW. They are slightly better than TW at the moment, but they tend to have many similar business practices. There is a thread for them on here.

As someone who never had a chance to order the previous Jacks, I'm beyond pleased with what we're getting! Admittedly, I haven't studied the DX06 or DX15 closely, but this seems to be a "best of both worlds" situation with the selection of sculpts, diorama (so glad we got the wheel and not the shark)... maybe not the hat, but I'm not enough of a stickler for that to bother me. I agree with the consensus that a Black Pearl Jack would've been best, but I couldn't chance passing on this version for one that may never come.

From what I’ve gathered, the DX06 hat leans more accurate. I’ve seen some loose hats on eBay selling for okay prices. I might cop.

But I agree. I would’ve preferred COFTBP (or DMC/AWE) Jack by a mile, and I’m personally “settling” with this version here but I couldn’t pass up getting the character representation. Jack will be a standalone Pirates representation for me anyway, so no real concern for whether or not he’d pair accurately with others or whatnot too.

I’m also glad I went Deluxe. The Artisan looks worse to me cause of the thick dreadlocks. As for the likeness being off and DX15 or DX06 likeness being better, I guess with this one, I don’t care. I’d rather have a newer figure.

Also as much as I'd love to see a figure of Jack based off the first three films, I'd much rather see Hot Toys make Davy Jones or even Barbossa.
