Well, Yamato does do frequent variants as web exclusives. Hopefully, they get feedback to return the sculpt back to the Prototype face. And if they do indeed come out with a variant, why not do something more sensical with her hands. Perhaps a sword in the right, a shield in the left and just stick the lasso on her hip.

Also, if there is that substantial a change in the sculpt of the face, why not change the picture on the actual box?

disaster. first time I have seen anything from this company not be 99% close to the proto.

Yeah same here - I have four of the Wei Ho pieces, and they are incredibly faithful to the prototypes... I can't even imagine what happened for the face sculpt on this to get so completely ganked.

I sent a note to one of the Yamato guys asking about what happened - I'll share any feedback I get here.

they must be kicking themselves as well. WW is without question the most popular character they have ever done...probably a first Yamato purchase for most...and likely last.

Wow what happen? This was the most pretty WW I've seen and now this is what she looks like? I'm so glad I did not PO this one. She looks high. Shame before it was a really want.

I don't think it's going to look as bad as that picture shows, from what I can see is bad lighting and distorted picture, we need better pictures...

Looking at these shots I agree. But I understand why people are upset.

One note: Where are her sword and shield?

To all my YAMATO USA Fans
"I am writing to express my sincerest apologies regarding the Wonder Woman. People have been mentioning that it looks nothing like the prototype and yes I agree. It was difficult to execute the facial and the way it turned out we weren't happy as well. We did not change our factory and we will send an additional staff to China from now on to inspect every face!. I hope that all of you will allow us the opportunity to express our apologies.

the ship has sailed as far as this statue is concerned. they knew exactly how crappy this turned out before any customer received it.

now it is all about saving face...I imagine there will be hundreds of cancellations and a huge sale/discount in the not too distant future.

Buy Statue Right Now = Dude, this looks terrible! I'll never pay for this final product.

Buy Statue Later at a Huge Discount = Dude, this statue looks amazing! Worth every cent.

I'm still scratching my head over what could have possibly happened to her to make the production piece so different from the prototype... basically everything from her clavicles up is completely different from the proto. It's as if the head portion of the original production mold somehow got damaged before the beginning of the run, and someone at the factory just improvised a new head sculpt and mold on the fly. In any event, calling this a Royo piece now is just a travesty, and packaging this without updating the box art is borderline fraud - Ugh, what a mess...

That's the worst part for me, I wasn't going to buy Wonder Woman but a Royo Batman/Joker, that's something I really wanted. Now I'm going to have to wait and see because I won't want to preorder in case the same thing happens. Probably an over reaction on my part considering this is the first time I've seen it happen with Yamato, but it's still a little strange that it no one said anything until someone got it in hand.

I don't think anyone would ever say it looks amazing. If it was discounted down to $99 or something in the DC Collectibles range, then this sort of paint app would be expected and people may go, "Dude, that statue is pretty cool." Or they'll still just dislike it. I wouldn't pick this up for $99, as it just looks terrible...and it's not like it'd ever go that low in pricing anyway!

The post is definitely bizarre. Their response has left quite a few people confused as to what they're doing about it, as it's come off like they're saying, "Sorry about the terrible job this time out. In the future we'll make sure that doesn't happen...but this time you're stuck with it." This would be an instant return without hesitation, and I'm sure they'll be getting a lot back really soon. Not to mention the fact that they left out the sword and shield.

It'd likely be quite costly to do a full recall and fix their errors, to the point where it may be easier to swallow what returns they get and try to move forward. That said, as I mentioned before, this will stop a lot of future POs to begin with until people see final products. That's a tough way to stay afloat as well. I just have no real idea how these were painted so hard! The soft, gentle look of the face and skin is a selling point for this line...slapping on terrible paints was something they should've known would cause an issue LONG before these were all boxed up and ready to ship.

And the whole lighting thing is silly. That's a TERRIBLE group of shots for lighting, indeed; but any well lit shot of the statue still looks like garbage.

To those asking for the Wonder Woman Photo.
Here are some taken at our office. As for the sword and shield the factory misplaced and was shipped to certain companies but has been taken care of. So we made sure everyone gets the sword and shield. My sincerest apologies to those who were mislead by the prototype and the actual figure.

As for the website their was some issues that needs to be fixed
so please give it some time. I'll keep you posted.

Thank You

I think the new face makes her look more like the classic wonder woman.

I think the issue is mostly with her eyes looking up and the whites under her pupils. She doesn't look bad otherwise to me though.

Its not that it looks bad in particular that makes this horrible. Its that this was based on Royo's art and his women have a particular look that the prototype had.

This is no longer a Royo piece, its just Wonder Woman
