I was disappointed too when I first got him but now not so much. I really, really like the outfit and if I just can't live with the paint apps then I figure Les or Darren or somebody can make it right for me.

I find this Luke figure to be a great figure. I can easily see the likeness (but I have to remind everyone...the figure looking like the actor means NOTHING to me). And I really like the costume. The addition of the elastic to hold the shirt in place is great with me because I am always undressing the figures to adjust the costumes. I also like the better material (or that is how it seems to me). The costume just seems to be much higher quality and better fit. My 2 complaints are that the gunbelt can not be removed from the pants, and the boots make his legs bend back so it is a little tougher to get him to stand straight. Not much for complaints, huh?

I think Sideshow did this version of Luke more justice than any other medium has. Movies, photos, paintings, or sculpted likenesses of any kind.

I think the big problem is with these pictures that people are posting..It is not in natural lighting. When you use bright lights or flash, it will wash out the subject like in real photography. This has occurred on all the sideshow figs, the look better in more natural light.

He is not perfect, but i am pretty damn happy with him. BTW I almost broke my jabba and throne twice yesterday trying to move him from my living room (which my wife is happy is now gone) to the top of my bookshelf in my toy room (which i was scared it was going to break it), to my computer desk (which it resides till I can find a better place)

My pictures were shot with natural lighting. No flash. I'm definitely not happy with him. I just can't accept a half-ass figure.

OMG! It DOES!!!!! :monkey5

I'm just really beside myself watching how hard people are trying to take a picture with "the right lighting to make him look acceptable", and convince themselves he was a good purchase. The likeness is poor, and the most important part, the iconic yellow jacket, is cheap and shoddy. Not worth my $67. What has been said before is true: with so many other 12 inch companies really turning up the heat and creating amazing product, it's time for SS to step up to the plate and impress, too. No more resting on their laurels. I want to be wowed.
That's all.

Fuller hair above the forehead, longer neck, and slightly smaller eyes would have helped the likeness.

So i wonder who will win the title of worse SS SW fig han or this one.(think i gotta go with this one...but not by much)

Ouch...:lightsabe

I'll wait until it arrives to make my final decision--- but wow... let's change the name of this website to SideshowDetractors.:google

Is the face sculpt perfect?... No. Is it the coming of the apocalypse? Maybe.
Not worth your $$$?... That's cool--- don't buy it.

I was pulled into SS several years ago by their Bond line-- Were all of their releases perfect? (look at Yeoh----NO!!!!) I collected them nonetheless.

I'm collecting the SW line due to my passion for the film(s)---- that passion extends to exceptional products that were never before released... Rose-coloured glasses? Drinking the kool-aid? No... just a fan.

I enjoy reading the criticism... (funny most of the times)

But sometimes you have to counter the negative tsunami with a little positive :inlove :lsvader :peace

Cheers SSFreaks--- there are SOME of you still out there? Right?

I'm not ecstatic with Yavin Luke, but I'm not devastated either. I acknowledge that it's one of Sideshow's weaker SW efforts, but they've also hit lots of home runs.

To illustrate how hard it is to capture young Luke's likeness, here's Plastic Earth's effort from Robot Chicken. And they're usually pretty good ...

Yeah , the SSC fans are still here. I like my Yavin Like. It's not perfect but it's not awful either. Well worth what I paid for it.

And that Plastic Earth's Luke looks like a cross between JFK and Robert Redford.:lol

Doubt it, but the proto is probably the best version we could have hoped for. Y'know, the more I look at the end product the more I think it's the eye color that's thrown it off.

I'm with you there. The sculpt looks to be the same and actually not bad. The fact that the eyes are brownish, extremely white and slightly too big is what's throwing the look of the figure off a bit.
