Your doing a terrific job... I wish I worked as fast as you! Keep it up... I know a lot of people dislike the DC body, but I love it... I've collected the whole line, bar Two-Face...

I'd leave him alone mate. Personaly I allways figured vader was taller than normal due tohis mechanical parts. He SHOULD tower over the jedi!

Thanks, dude! I liked my DC Direct Supes too. Actually felt sorry I had to butcher him. But he happily gave his life too give rise to a kick @ss Vader :rock2

Yeah, I know, I've had my doubts about it too, at first.
But once you start looking at other reference pics, you see quite clearly he's just a bit too tall.
For instance, look at the pic below from ROTJ: you can see Vader's shoulders (armor) are roughly at the same height as Luke's eyes.
Then compare it to the unmodified DC next to SS Luke (plus the DC Vader here doens't have his helmet and boots on yet, which would make him higher still)...

Hmmm, what do you guys think?

Just fooled around with the second pic in Paint (sooo nineties, I know :D); his correct height should be something like this I guess?:

I love that picture Koen

and it's great watching the progress of this Vader! Oh, and I grabbed a few shots that show Vader next to 'normal' people. might give you an idea how tall you want him

EDIT: don't forget though in some shots like that Vader-Fett one above, where you can't see the feet, they often have actors standing on a box so they can get the two actors faces in shot... under the assumption that nobody will ever know the difference.

It's hard to know I guess. What we need is a full frontal shot of Luke and Vader, head to toe, from a straight on camera angle.... or vader and someone else. Then I guess we'll see the relative height. I've just looked through my (hundreds) of vader reference pics for you but didn't have anything better than the above. Maybe Hurricane will have something.

Either way.... this is going to be a great figure!

Thanks for you kind words and the helpful pictures, Darren!!

I looked for a pic you were talking about (one with the actors in full view).
Hmmm, it still looks like Luke's eye level is at the same height as Vader's shoulders.

I also just read that the offical SW-site lists Luke as 1.72 cm (with eye level at Vader's shoulders), and Boba Fett at 1.83 cm (looking at your pic above, his eye level being at Vader's tusks, and since he's 11 cm taller than Luke, that could work), so the pictures probably give a good representation of Vader's height opposed to Luke and Fett...

I like Vader being very tall, but I've always felt people exagerate his height a bit... and that shot of Luke walking next to him is proof of that.

David Prowse was 6'6" or 6'7" OUT of costume. I'm 6'6" in bare feet, and in full Vader gear, I come out around 6'9" - 6'10".

high glossed dome next to a new one out of box, there is a big diference tho the picture doesnt highlight this :eek:chest armor has 'gunmetal' added...

Wow that looks soo awesome. I'm starting to think that I want to get one of those DC 12" figs and use it for a vader myself. GOt a question for you about the body. how solid were the joints, and how overall poseable was it, specificly in the shoulders?

the Dc body is good pose wise the arms are bulky tho and offer up angles when the upper arm is rotated.......anyway ,next on the list is brain surgery.....fit the DC socket (in the SM head) into the cooked whinger head (hasbro)...

I wouldn't worry too much about poseability in the shoulders, Vader's armor is a *****!
Even the ultra-super-duper poseable Medi body is restricted by the armor and outfit.

Dc direct head has given up its socket, now transplanted into the hasbro burnt head, kaiyodo helmet has been split a' la ESB (it splits in a diferent place than seen in ROTJ)still needs all the brow detailing added, and some extra detailing on the crown, plus the reveal details, the kaiyodo chest box has been altered to ESB spec (additional slide switch above top 'rank block' rocker switches given new faces)
