Just remembering when the kid got caught in Japan, spray painting the car in Japan and was sentenced to caning. Or the chick who got busted with pot in Bali (where it's a capital offense), the two dudes hung in Malaysia for heroine, etc. The press demonized the countries for having "unfair" laws while nobody seemed to address the fact that these people either knew the laws or were too ignorant not to look them up before going.

Precisely. My guess is the French tourists were to immature to respect that they weren't at home anymore.
