I regret buying 12" figures... im focusing my collection on statues only. Also regret buying hot toys cuz they keep putting out DX versions, I can't afford to buy 3 slight different jokers and batmans. I guess HT was a the Tipping point for me, there stuff looked great but they kept bastardizing there own product by production an variant scenario. In the end i sold me of my 12" off. I have a few pieces.... but mostly doing statues instead of dolls.

Welcome to Master Replicas circa 2004. I'm in the same boat you're in. I'm through with the Iron Man figures its sad that they have variants of figures that weren't even in the movie. . I love the Joker figures, but yeah enough is enough.

Eh, the Hot Toys figures were all justified. I guess its a matter of will. At least the Marks 1 through 3. I only get sick of seeing stuff in boxes. Its annoying to me, so I try and rotate my collection display now and then. Keeps it fresh.

I used to get sick of my collection back in the days when I would buy almost anything that remotely interested me. Ever since I scaled back, sold all the extra stuff and refocused my collecting scope I've been happy with it. Being selective with a specific focus really helps your collection and keeps you from amassing too much stuff.

Yeah, but I'm referring to the battle damaged, the special gray version, and now the "Mech Test Suit." I'm happy for the people that are planning on getting them all, but with the sequel coming in 6 months we know that they are already gonna give us at least 4 more suits from that movie alone on top of other characters.

I'm just sick of going back and forth. First I like collecting 1/6, then some really awesome PFs come out, and now I have several 1:1 busts in my collection.

Yeah I'll give you the Grey suit and BD versions but the Mech suit is cool IMO. If anything the T-600s were getting whack. Good game (MW2) last night/this morning.

Nah, not sick of them. Sometimes a bit of regret from how much money I've invested in them and how much space they take up, especially when I'm planning a move, but that's about it.

I've sold a fair few pieces for more than I bought them for, gotten in lots of great photography, it's gotten me to take up painting, met some interesting people, and hell, they just look nice and inspire me artistically from time to time.

That's a great response and way to look at it. If I didn't collect, I'm not sure what I'd spend the time on.

Word!

:lol

Really, though, when my husband and I were splitting up, he threatened to destroy all of my polystone. So a board member and good friend came over and we boxed it all up and got it hidden away in a storage unit.

And I left it all stored away for months after the separation. But the empty display cabinets made me sad and I thought about only bringing my absolute favorite pieces home.

What did that translate into?

Most pieces are lovingly back on display and aren't going anywhere.
The ones I could live without got sold, leaving a nice uncluttered display that I am most happy with.

:D

Having witnessed a few close friends divorces, they seem to really suck and get very ugly. You did the right thing moving them. I know they're just "things" but if someone intentionally destroyed them, I'd probably go a little psycho myself.

Only get sick to my stomach when I look at the collection and realize just how much $$ I've spent on it. But never the collection itself. Even though relatively late to the collectibles game, I made a hard decision early on to limit myself to 1 major line (LOTR) and maybe a couple of smaller lines (Harry Potter - busts only; GG's Wizard of Oz mini-bust line; SW mini-busts -- major characters of the OT only). I have pretty much stuck to this and although there were things I thought were really great and was really tempted, I didn't buckle and looking back, am glad I didn't. My two weak moments were the SS Indy PF and the HT MJ Thriller doll. And I certainly don't regret it.

I'm a little OCD that I keep an inventory of everything I buy and what I later sell it for. Last time I checked, I've made about $8000 on selling stuff. That includes gains and losses (plenty of losses). I still haven't taken tally on total I've spent, but I could easily if I wanted to, but decide not to do it because it's probably enough to buy a NICE car with. But I get more enjoyment out of my toys and statues than I do what I drive.

Exact reason why sideshow supports the forum through their catalogs.
ALLOT of my love for the hobby comes through my participation on the forum.

Absolutely true, if not for SSF, I wouldn't know about 90% of this hobby. Shoot, before this forum, I didn't even know what "Collectibles" were. I thought they were hummels and barbies.

Same here. This place is what got me into PF's. The first time I saw one I laughed thinking it was a ridiculous price. And they're a hell of alot more expensive now than they were then. :lol

what I said before AND totally agree about being shocked at sticker price. I remember paying $400 for Lurtz PF and feeling really guilty about it, but once I opened him, I knew it was money well spent. I thought that was going to be my only piece, but it was my first of dozens.

They're not Dolls!!!!

I have felt this way before, but I usually just sell whatever it is that I am not totally sold on anymore; honestly a good purge does wonders to give you a shot in the arm for collecting! :rock

I used to feel bad when I spent tons of money on this stuff. But, I sold off 99% of my collection (statues, p.f.'s, 12", etc.) and all I have left is the Hot Toys : The Dark Knight line (all the figures, both busts, and both Batpod and Tumbler) of which I am keeping, just got the DX Joker last week. All I have on pre-order is the DX Batman. Barring any other announcements in the Batman line, my collecting days are pretty much done.

Unless of course SS gets the DC license, or Hot Toys gets the LOTR license.

Not really, I get annoyed by the toys that I bought and wonder why, now I got to sell...
