You kill me man!

Anyway, speaking of scores...
Have you ever seen the 1995 Christopher Lambert film THE HUNTED with the score by KOTO? It's a wicked cool movie set in modern Japan, and the nothing-but-drum score is just fantastic.
Anyway, just had to drop that in there.

And Dark City does rule! :rock
(So does it's score!)

1. 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

2. fight club
3. pulp fiction
4. goodfellas
5. no country for old men

Wow, a thread so old most of the pics don't work :lol

I'll stick with what I said back in '07:

Just one answer, your 1 favorite movie! Mine is below.

The absolute best piece of cinema and I have seen a vast amount of movies from most eras!

I'm with ya on this one :rock :rock
..... along with LOTR(Fellowship) and Powder!

Incase you're wondering, the picture was for Shawshank redemption :rock

Now this thread has been brought forward I will move it through to the Movies Section, lets see if it lasts :lol

"Favorite movie" should be like the baseball Hall of Fame ... you need a few years after its retired from theaters to put it in perspective.

I somewhat agree with this. But sometimes, you just know.

Batman Begins has been my favorite movie since first seeing it opening day in the theater. Before that I would said the Star Wars trilogy (currently ESB). Before that I would have said Indiana Jones (currently RotLA). Before that I would have said Batman '89. Will I someday have a new favorite film? Probably. But as you see from this pattern, I like geeky Hollywood blockbusters most as opposed to artsy films.

Yeah, Batman Begins for me

Nolan's got #2 as well with TDK

Then Godfather II

LOTR Trilogy (I just call it one huge film)

Indeed ... sometimes you just know. No different with the Hall of Fame, I suppose.

The real test is the test of time. If its still your favorite after 2-years, or 5-years, or 10-years -- then maybe you have something. I tend to view with suspicion 'favorites' lists that are too recent. Particularly if the top movie was released within the week or month, or if several were released in the last year or two. In those cases, the lister is usually one of those that just picks the flavor-of-the-moment -- all hoopla, no judgment.

Avatar was on a LOT of favorite lists for a few months there. These days, not too many.

If I had to pick one -- it'd probably be 'Gladiator'. But, in all honesty, my favorite rotates depending on my mood. I can think of a top-ten ...

Gladiator
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Batman Begins
No Country for Old Men
The Departed
The Dark Knight
Black Hawk Down
Fight Club
Die Hard
3:10 to Yuma (Crowe/Bale)

Tried to put Bourne in there, but I couldn't decide which one, and I hate when people cite a trilogy on a favorites list without giving three slots for it.

Close, but didn't make the cut ...

Bourne, Inception, Cinderella Man, Lucky Number Slevin, Casino Royale, Goldeneye, LA Confidential, Man on Fire, Pirates of the Carribbean, Silence of the Lambs, Shutter Island, Star Trek (Abrams).
