In a selfish attempt to learn about some good music, what are your five favorite musical albums, today (I know it changes all the time for me)? Here are mine, without giving it too much thought:

1) Steely Dan: Aja (if not in the interest of spreading the love around, Katy Lied would probably also make my list)
2) Bill Evans Trio: Waltz for Debby (Live from the Village Vanguard)
3) Wes Montgomery: Full House (Live from Berkley)
4) Sugar: Copper Blue
5) the Police: Synchronicity

I've listened to each of these albums dozens of times, and they just seem to get better whenever I listen to them.

Always looking for new music also!
Mine would be (in no particular order):
1) U2 - The Unforgettable Fire (easily interchanged with The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby depending on mood)
2) Cowboy Junkies - At the End of Paths Taken
3) Pearl Jam - Ten
4) Concrete Blonde - Bloodletting
5) Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run

Can't wait to see what everyone else is listening to.

Rollins Band- Weight
The Rolling Stones- Sticky Fingers
The Police- Snychronicity
Living Colour- Time's Up
Santana- Abraxas

I do love Aja, but I can't stand I got the news. I hate that song so very very much.

4) Concrete Blonde - Bloodletting
Two really unappreciated groups there. I'm a big fan of the Trinity Sessions. I still love the first two Pearl Jam albums, as well.

LOL Not my favorite, but I've grown to appreciate it more over time. I love the little bit Michael McDonald does about halfway through. "Broadway duchess, darling, if you only knew half as much as everybody thinks you do." I need to check out that Santana album.

I couldn't possibly narrow my favorite albums down to five, so here's my favorites from 2014:

The Gaslight Anthem – “Hurt”
Against Me! – “Transgender Dysphoria Blues”
Lawrence Arms – “Metropole”
Chuck Ragan - "Till Midnight"
Lagwagon - "Hang"

Eh, right now:

Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Tool - Ænima
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Simulacra - There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

"Oh, by the way, which one's Pink?"

Took me 20 years to get that line.

Hard to narrow down, but these have been in frequent rotation with me:
AC/DC: Back in Black
Jane's Addiction: Nothing's Shocking
10,000 Maniacs: In My Tribe
Rival Sons: EP
Iron Maiden: Killers

Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Ghost - Opus Eponymous

I like you.

Tool - Aenima
NIN - Downward Spiral
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Gaslight Anthem - Sink Or Swim
Off With Their Heads - From the Bottom

I'm an ornery old ******* who doesn't pay attention to what's going on in the world anymore, so apart from Lagwagon your list reads like Greek to me, Rich. Looks like I need to check out these Gaslight Anthem people you guys speak of.

OMG....how hard is this!? Only 5? Not in any order other than the first one:

1. The Beatles "Rubber Soul" (American Version)
2. Def Leppard "Hysteria"
3. Aerosmith "Toys in the Attic"
4. Metallica "Black Album"
5. Led Zeppelin IV

There's so many more....UNFAIR! :lol

Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy
AC/DC - Back in Black
Led Zeppelin IV
Jimmy Buffett -Changes in Latitudes Changes in Attitudes
Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
H.U.V.A. Network - Distances
Tool - Ænima
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Sasha and Digweed - Northern Exposure 1

1. The Velvet Underground and Nico
2. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
3. Les Misérables 10th Anniversary Concert
4. PJ Harvey - Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea
5. The Beatles - Abbey Road

Honourable mention:
U2 - Achtung Baby!, PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love, Amy Winehouse - Back to Black

PJ Harvey is definitely my favourite artist of the last twenty years who is not noticeably past their prime like Bowie or U2.
