Is FLCL even any good ? I heard mixed reports. :dunno

Well its probably one of the wierdest animes ever and doesnt make a whole lot of sense, but its one of the greatest animes in the way of art direction and style. Easily at the top of my list for great animes, just an awesome style. I will say its not for everyone because again its so wierd and doesnt really have a straight foward story, its just so wierd. I cant even describe it. If you've never seen it, you gotta at least rent it or whatever, give it a chance. I went ahead and actually ordered the dvd version as well because like I said I heard the blu is just pan/scan so I'll save a few bucks.

Hmmm, that coupled with pan/scan... I'll probably pass.

Just been wanting a great anime to watch on Blu forever. :(

It's been a long time since I've seen FLCL, but I remember it was a straight to video series. IIRC the original was in 1:1.33 aspect. I don't remember the original being letterboxed, so why would it be pan and scan now?

Akira is one of the best transfers of any film you'll find.

I have Akira. Can't not have that.

Anything else ?

You must get this in March. :lecture

I have had the DVD for years, I just have not been able to justify the $30 upgrade to bluray, yet.

You have just made my day. My absolute favorite of all time, with regard to Miyazaki. I think we were even chatting about this title just a few months ago, and its availability only overseas. Right? At any rate, this deserves fireworks from me. In some respects, I wish I could have the old dub from my recorded VHS tape of the '80s back, but Patrick Stewart is amazing, so I will continue to roll with it.

My Criterion DVD sales end tonight. Please don't let some of these mofos get some sealed Kurosawa Criterion for $7 or $8.[/url]

DVDs...

Still, I think you will be surprised with the outcome of most of you auctions. Are you moving exclusively to blus from Criterion?

I own both the Blu and the DVDs. When I first upgradded to Blu I popped the DVD in and watch the gang fight at the beginning of the film. I then watched the same section on Blu.

Trust me, you need to upgrade.

1. Yep, we did talk about this since at the time I had purchased the region-free Blu-ray from Japan. It cost some money, but it still has nice packaging.

2. I have quite a few watchers, so I'm hopeful they'll do their thing. Seems like the last few times I did auctions the watchers were off doing other things instead of bidding. :slap I'm not really moving exclusively to Blu-ray, just trying to move some stuff that has been unwatched for years to put that money into something else.

I dont know for a fact, I just heard it was pan/scan. So your probably right. Again reason why I only ordered the dvd and not the blu.

I wouldn't mind Jin-Roh getting a blu-ray release at some point. My most recent blu-ray purchases are Saw the Final Chapter and Dead Space Aftermath.

Easily one of my most favorite anime, again not for everyone, but man Id love a blu of Jin-Roh.

I bought RED today at Best Buy with their exclusive comic book. Got home to find out the DVD/blu-ray combo is on the same disc. :monkey4
