why does everyone throw fits because LOTR EE is on 2 discs? I dont get it. Too much work to pop in disc 2 when youre 10 feet away from the bluray player?

If they were to put the movies on just one disc there would be some video quality issues. I'm sure that they wanted to give the fans the best picture that they could and therefore had to span the movies over 2 discs.

I'm going to assume he got the DVD. I don't think studios are putting special editions on DVDs any more. It's all about Blu-ray now.

Downloading the 3rd digital copy right now!

So, regarding the LOTR Extended Blu-ray set, is this the final one now? Or is there talk of ANOTHER damn uber extended set being released in the future?

I imagine there will be a full super uber director's extended middle earth edition released once The Hobbit is done.

I'm sure there will be future releases, but I feel no need to wait any longer. I've been waiting years for the EE in blu already! :panic:

I bet it's not the final release of the films, but I do bet it's the last time they color correct/alter the film for high definition. It won't be like Star Wars where little audio and visual tweaks will be done here and there with every single release

Dangit! I was really hoping for a version with newly added fun and cute creatures (that you can buy figures of) doing completely random stuff in the foreground of half the pivotal scenes.

From what i've heard PJ was working on a box-set before he took over The Hobbit. My guess is it won't come out until The Hobbit is done.
