No, you cannot. Some of the films are a bit slower to me, but overall, the genre based ones, always thrill me.

And concerning Arrietty, the day I saw it was simply magical and the film added to that feeling. I don't think I'll ever forget it and now I have the bluray to remind me too.

Arrietty is awesome. I have the Japanese Blu-ray and watched that a couple months ago. Now I'm looking forward to the English dub.

I bought the first three seasons of Fringe on Blu-ray at Best Buy. They were on sale for only $22 a piece. The regular price is $55.

Hey gang! I know some of you have LD players and still love the medium as it is the only way to get certain films which studios continually refuse to release on bluray in high definition. Well, with the release of the Dragonslayer print from Mondo yesterday, it made me want the best representation I could get of the film in my library. There is a LD version, and a few DVDs but no bluray as of yet...

So my questions:

Who here still has working LD players? (I never have)

Is it worth the effort to get a player for just a few titles? (maybe Star Wars)

What is a good player to look for and where should I look?

Is there a thread for this or another site I should reference?

SSF is the first place I go for information of this type, so hook a fellow freak up, direct me, or PM me. Whatever!

:D

I have a laserdisc player in the closet. I still have all my Star Wars and Indiana Jones lasers. I've always been tempted to track down a few odds and ends, but haven't gotten around to it.

I would say it's worth having one for some obscure stuff. There are also some really nice box sets that might be worth getting as well. If you do get one, make sure it will play both sides so you don't have to flip the disc. I'll always remember those days fondly.

If anyone is interested, I have Secret World of Arrietty, Castle in the Sky, and Whisper of the Heart blu-rays brand new and sealed for $50 dlvd in USA for all 3.

Did you possibly trade in these 3 at Vstock in South County? I saw a copy of each brand new but beings sold as used today. So I picked up Whisper of the Heart part of the buy 2 get 1 free :yess:

Wow LD. That is a blast from the past. I remember back in 89 when I sold a/v equipment that was top of the line. We used to demo LD Top Gun and Batman on the 65" Pioneer projection set all day long.

My haul of today :yess:

Great haul ! I love 3 out of the 5. Never really liked MaC and I thought Sherlock was just ok. Have fun watching those my man!

Thank you! :duff
I love M&C! Just a great watch. Had it on DVD for some years now, but I felt I needed an upgrade!

Das Boot is in my top ten favorite films... ;)

I've never seen it in it's entirety before. Only bits and pieces over the years! Can't wait to finally see it!
Haven't seen The Fighter yet either.
