My latest haul.

I haven't really watched it all the way through. I can say the a/v quality is stunning, and that was on tv not blu.

I'm surprised there aren't more exclusive packagings for Jurassic World...unless there are and I missed them. I figured there'd be a steelbook available.
I agree, saw it on TV as well, the Pirate Fairy one; and I loved the video. I just completed my Diamond edition Disney stuff, took me a while to get a solid deal of 3D Lion King sealed. I'd probably get 2 copies of each tinkerbell, one to allow my nieces to watch, and the other to keep sealed.

I know they have that 3D tin case one, but I'm not huge on the shape. I may just go for it and the other JP films.
The specialty cover has I-rex camouflage so it may be hard to see on the shelf.
Wait, seriously? I'd probably go for a cool cover one. I see Target has a slip with Owen and the raptors. The tin one I'm not so fond of, and the lunch box one is cool; but no 3D. Last choice is the I-Rex and T-Rex collectibles version.

Just got my Aladdin Diamond by Edition with the 4 art cards from the Disney store. Cards are cool

That is a great selection of cards! Looks awesome! :rock

I was considering getting the Series 8 of Doctor Who, but I have the 50th anniversary blu ray set, and I'm super bummed that they didn't follow the same box and all as the blu rays. Prefer the case with the same style, not huge on the book style.

Great haul though, Doc! :rock

I wonder if the lunchbox had the blu ray with slip cover. On a side note hate the cover for JW Blu Ray

I'm pretty sure it does. Never seen a LE not have a slip with it.

No, sorry. Joking. But really, you buy based on covers? You gonna re-build your entire collection when 4K comes into its own? Then 8k again?

:lol I do.

I actually buy a few duplicates even. And yes, more than likely I will attach duplicates with 4k and 8k. :lol

I learned my lesson with VHS. I had a magnificent collection of VHS movies... and when I moved I finally unloaded them all for $1 each at some retro "record" store. I figured since I didn't even have a working VCR by that time that I might as well let them go. :lol

My blu ray collection by comparison is very small. 24 pieces total - although its many more because of LOTR set, Star Wars set, Indy set and the Bond Collection box with all 23 movies.

1080p to 4K isn't what dvd to blu ray was, but I imagine I'll rebuy quite a few movies once they're released in 4K just to get the best picture possible. In other words, they have me by the balls.

I told myself that I wouldn't double dip on any of my DVD movies. That I would buy blu ray movies only if I do not already own a copy of it on DVD. Well, fast forward to present day and I've got 30+ movies that I own on both mediums. When my favorite movies come out in 4K, I'll have those too. :lol

The picture quality of Netflix via my Oppo blu ray player is probably just as good as a blu ray disc. The main thing about blu ray that's better is the lossless audio, and I'll admit even that might be an imperceptible difference. I mainly like discs because sometimes the internet slows down and Netflix gets all pixelated. That's ruins a movie for me.

Im a collector of movie related figures. Collecting movies is part of that experience. I love buying and owning movies. THE WALKING DEAD Season 5 in on NETFLIX but here I am making the blu ray purchase. I think movies mean more to me than just watching!! My old school thinking!!

Have you ever seen the German Hartbox (Hardbox) releases?

They are Bu-Ray or DVD that come in VHS style cases & are mostly Horror or Cult movies, some look awesome but I really cant get into another variant of movie boxes!

I didn't even know those existed. I guess the closest thing we have to that here in the States are Steelbooks for those that want something more collectible.

I haven't seen those till now. Thanks! I don't think I'll start with those though, too much to pay for special packaging.

If you watch it on a 40" screen, sure. Not even close on a big screen. On my 112" it's almost unwatchable.
