I'm not afraid to see Prometheus at all.
There's no potential for it to be amazing so my interest in this movie... pretty superficial..
Fixed to match my point.

The movie is coming whether you like it or not... Part of me wishes the movie would never come out, and the mystery of the Space Jockey would never be revealed, but it is. And I don't see why you would bash the movie for a reason other than that. The movie looks incredible, and a big bonus..the director of Alien is the one directing it..Fixed to match my point.
The Hobbit.... It's not even close.
Agreed. This poll is like asking what movie are you looking forward to most in 1999; Phantom Menace, Wild Wild West, Deep Blue Sea, etc. The Hobbit is this year's Phantom Menace, but with the expectation that it will actually deliver.
I'd like to think that more people are voting Avengers and DKR just because those films are just a few months away while the Hobbit hasn't really ramped up the hype yet... Still, Avengers over the Hobbit? Lucas could be set to release Star Wars 7 in 2012 and I'd still be more excited for the Hobbit... To me there's a massive difference between just being a fanboy (Batman, Avengers) and being a fan of a classic, timeless story... It's not even close.
Battleship could be alright. I heard the script is awesome, and Peter Berg is a good director.
It just looks visually, too much like Transformers.
How come fans of comics are being labeled as "fanboys" and fans of Middle Earth are apparently sophisticated enough to see their property is a classic, timeless story?

17 Academy Awards, 30 nominations for starters. With The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit the story really is of equal importance to the characters. Superhero flicks, especially team ones, are usually more about guys looking cool when they jump around and punch out bad guys.

I'm a comic fan too... Hell, I was a comic fan long before I ever read anything Tolkien. I just think the difference lies in the fact that the previous Middle Earth films were all masterfully crafted works of film making art while most super-hero films aim for the pocket book of "fan boys" everywhere. There's a fundamental difference that's apparent in the overall quality of the end product....
And keep in mind that I'm in no way saying that the Hobbit isn't being produced to make money or that those who work on Super Hero films don't care deeply about the property. I'm not trying to paint the whole thing with such broad strokes but I do however feel that the Middle Earth films are superior in just about every way even when compared to some of the better Super Hero films such as TDK.
