Night of the Living Dead (1990)

I watched the DVD furystorm sent me. I'm happy enough with it, so I'll probably flip the crappy blue-tinted Blu-ray.

I watched Army of Darkness a couple weeks ago and will work my way backwards (just for sh**s and giggles).

Next up, Evil Dead 2.

That's exactly it. When they cut to the guys pulling all the switches, placing bets, drinking and having a good time, it just pulled me out of the 'horror' mood that was set up by being in a run-down cabin in the middle of the woods.

At least with Army of Darkness, I fully expected the slap-stick comedy.

Exactly, if I wanna watch a "cabin in the woods" movie I think I'll stick to friday 13th or evil dead.

Watched the fly (remake) last night, and 1408 today. Also just received my Halloween 2 blu ray and curse of Frankenstein (on centurion's recommendation). Think I'll save Halloween 2 for Halloween night and watch the two, Halloween followed by Halloween 2, double feature, both blu ray. :rock.

Can't wait to see curse of Frankenstein, don't think I've ever seen that one but I do love hammer.

That's the point. They represent both the filmmakers and the audience. The movie is a meta satire, like Scream.

You weren't supposed to be in the "horror mood" because that's not what the movie was trying to do.

Paranormal Activity

Never saw it before now. Gee, what was all the fuss about? That wasn't very scary.

Do any of the sequels improve on it?

Nope. They expand the story, which I thought was done interestingly enough through the three films. They tied together well. But basically if you've seen the first one, you've seen them all. I find they get more and more boring with each entry. That said, will still go and see the new one as its kind of a Halloween tradition now for me and the girlfriend, we go each year and see the new film, in the hope that maybe it won't be quite as bad this time. Lol.

Just watched monster squad. Used to absolutely love this film when I was a kid but hadn't seen it in about 20 odd years. Wow. Was so cool. I was surprised how much came back to me while watching it. Also loved the little holocaust reference with the old German guy. Thought that was well done and something I never noticed as a child, for obvious reasons. Awesome flick and so glad it didn't let me down as I had such fond memories of it as a kid. It made me wanna go out and hunt for monsters. Lol.

Little off topic but I just seen the teaser for carrie. I'm generally quite skeptical about remakes but like to give them the benefit of the doubt. But the first thing I thought after seeing the teaser was "carrie is supposed to be an outcast". Chloe moretz is hot, even in kick ass people were saying "when she's older she'll be hot". Sissy spacek was really plain looking, she looked like an outcast, somebody who would be picked on. Chloe moretz doesn't.

Sorry for the off topic rant, just needed to get that out. Lol.

I'll wait until she's of legal age before associating the term "hot" with Chloe. :lol

But I agree with him that she looks too much like someone that would have a ton of friends in school instead of an outcast.

Call it hot, pretty, cute, whatever, she doesn't come off as a believable Carrie.

All the blood in the world won't help.

Haha yeah fair play. I'm sure you getnwhatni mean though.

Yeah exactly, she looks like an attractive girl. No denying it. As you said, someone that would no doubt have a ton of friends. Especially in this "geek is cool" type of fad at the minute. There's no way she'd be an outcast.

Agreed on both accounts. :hi5:

Each of the following installments in the Paranormal Activity series only reveals more of the story. The actual scare tactics and material used to scare you in the 1st movie is simply recycled and reused in the sequels.

Monster Squad. What can I say.
I saw this again last week and fell in love with it all over again.
When someone asks me what this movie is like, I tell them it's like the movie The Sandlot but with a Halloween theme. :D

I think you're my new best friend. Haha. :lol monster squad was just wow. I had a huge smile on my face from start to finish. I kept meaning to buy it on DVD but wasn't sure if I'd watch it and realise it was just terrible. But man, it was awesome. Great stuff. I always thought it was like the goonies, but with monsters. Never heard of the sandlot.
