Yeah, because Laurie had been adopted after the Michael incident and subsequent death of both parents in a car accident. Her last name is now Strode. Hence, we don't find out she is Laurie's brother until it is revealed in II...

In effect, and in my opinion, lending a bit more gravitas to the original film.

OK, so I'm mixing Carpenter's with the remake then. Damn you Rob Zombie! :lol

Yep! I just watched the scene where it's explained to Loomis and he fires a "warning shot" to get the officer to turn the car around and go back to Haddonfield.

Yeah, I'm watching it. So? :lol

Well, finally finished watching Van Helsing.
I'll admit, I like the Frankenstein monster in this. Very creative and really looks like he was put together from different body parts.

The CG transformation of the werewolf was terrible for a 2004 film, but the vampire was awesome.

Combine this with mediocre story and acting and I give it 7/10.

These are my musts every year

Halloween
A couple of Friday the 13ths
One of the Nightmare on Elms
Trick or Treat
Blair Witch Project
Some sort of Demon Possession film (I am thinking Amityville Horror this year)
Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein
Frankenstein meets the Wolfman

I pretty much just watch the above mentioned films at Halloween time. I then just pick whatever else strikes me. I watch horror films all year so I have to go with what I am in the mood for.

I am going to come down hard on this film for one very big reason. It's too f'ing loud. The effects are loud, the score is loud, and everyone in the film is always sceaming.

Of course there is the overacting (goes with the screaming) and the awful humor, plus the bad script but it all pales compared to the noise.

I want to enjoy this film but it's just too much CG, Screaming, and noise. I hate the Mummy movies also. Just not into this directors style at all.

I have to agree with you. I also have to say the same about The Wolfman remake, the CG along with horrid pacing by Joe Johnston, who normally is pretty good with that, just ruined a film I really wanted to like, especially since I think Benicio del Toro was perfect.

Syfy has been playing NOES all day. More on tomorrow and also the Collector which is one of my all time favorite, and leprechaun.

Most horror movies are like that :lol
Strongly disagree, but it really depends if you're even a horror movie fan.
There have been some very good horror movies. The most recent, The Conjuring, has been getting a lot of positive feedback, and not just among fans in the horror/suspense genre.

Anyway, you'll just have to watch Leprechaun to find out for yourself.
