Finally! I had been waiting for this to pop up. Preordered! The artist who did the weathering on the coat and scarf and even batman figure post the coat on his Instagram I was super excited to get it. But the wait for Batman will suck.

Wow, that's definitely the best looking coat yet. I wasn't feeling any of the others enough to order this set, but after seeing that I just have to have this figure in my collection now.

Not sure yet if I'll keep the Superman figure though. The black suit looks cool in the movie, but can't really tell if it'll translate to a very exciting looking figure or not. I'm not convinced by any of the pics yet, but it could be more impressive in hand...

Yeah I'd like to know that too. Doesn't look like it has a wire in it (very straight). I'm sure they would have shown it in the photos if it did though I guess.

They're probably catering for those who don't want a wired coat. I'm a bit torn to be honest. I want a wire, but this one has the better paint job.

really don't like the beige puffy one coming with the Hot Toys version. I was an overcoat that drapes, this drapes. Sold.

In that moment he not only sees himself (and/or his father) in Clark, he sees an opportunity to finally free himself of the burden of not being able to "save Martha". He's been on a futile crimefighting spree for 20 years and now he finally has the chance for redemption.

Batman got his morals aligned back on track through the realisation that someone he was demonising, without giving any chance of showing who they really are, in their last moment worrying and only caring about their mother. In that moment he realised that if he was in the same position that's what he would be like if he could have saved his parents, realised that the alien he was giving no chance to prove themselves had more humanity than he has at this time (earlier line, you're not a God, you're not even a man!), Martha was that key word to snap everything in place in his mind.

That he brought the ferocity he aimed at Superman to that warehouse was powerful. His moral code of not killing is still out of the window, he's not fully back on track, but his judgement has been cleared, and on his way to being less jaded.

That the Martha scene is mocked so much is beyond me. It was a huge payoff for both Superman and Batman in that one film. That we got more payoff in Justice League was incredible, and now I need to see the rest of what Snyder had planned!

I completely buy the rationale you guys talk about above and yet no matter how many times I watch it it comes across as jarring. There's gotta be a reason for this. As I said recently somewhere else it just needed more setup to make it come across more natural in the moment - or merely a slight dialogue change in the moment. The way it is in the movie it's not clear that Superman knows what he's doing when he references his mother by her name as opposed to calling her ''my mother'' as would be more normal when talking about his mother - who isn't present - to a third party who isn't going to know who the hell he's talking about when he just says ''Martha''. Whereas if there had been a previous indication that Clark, in his research of Bruce Wayne, learned of the fact that Bruce's mother was also named Martha and figuratively filed that information in his back pocket. Then it would be clear that referring to his own mother as Martha in that particular moment was a strategy as opposed to something completely out of the ordinary that he luckily happens to say that strikes the necessary chord with Batman.

Alternatively, happenstance could still have worked fine as long as the right dialogue is used - such as ''you're letting him kill my mother - save her....Martha''

Well my 7 year old kid who watched it for the first time last week understood the scene so.. I guess some viewers just need everything spelled out for them. Nothing wrong with that.

My friend, you can fully understand the intent while at the same time finding the execution bizarre.

I think I may have commented on this already here earlier in the thread, but imho the choice to say “Martha” versus “my mother” almost has to be intentionally jarring, and I have my own thesis about why, explained here.

It should absolutely be jarring to Bruce/Batman in a scenario where Clark knows what he's doing - but if there was a deliberate choice by Snyder or the writers to make it jarring to the audience, well, I question the wisdom of that decision and there were certainly easy ways to make sure it wouldn't be.
