Oh I agree with you that its success (or failure) shouldn't affect your personal enjoyment of a film. It just sucks that if it fails, you won't get a continuation of the story though (if you liked it, and if not, then I guess that's good?)
I'm convinced that if the studio wanted to cut ties with Snyder they'd do it no matter what the viewership numbers would end up being. If I had reason to believe it would make a difference, then yeah I'd be hoping for really high viewership numbers.
I've been made aware of a bit of unverified news that the 3-day viewership was the highest ever for HBO Max. If there's any truth to that, it'll be reported in the next 24 hours. And if true, it will confirm that WW84 held the previous top spot. That would contradict the Samba numbers saying that WW84 got more views, so this may be bull****. We'll know for sure in a matter of hours. But if there is any truth to it, the numbers would've been huge when they all but announced an end to the Snyderverse yesterday.
I don't know. But still, 4 hours is plenty of enjoyment that I'll continue to be grateful for if it didn't get the viewership and support that I believe it did.
EDIT: Aaaaand it was total bull**** after all. Nothing to see here.
