Sorry Snyder fans.... But it seems this little experiment did jack **** to get new subscribers.
Not surprised at all. The only people who were interested were fans and people in the know. That?s only a couple thousand. I didn?t think this would be a huge movie. I knew Godzilla vs Kong would bring in more money. The Snyder verse failed to capture the GA.
I don't know where you guys get the idea that it did "jack **** to get new subscribers" or was a failure...
The article says GvK is the biggest box office hit, and both it and WW84 were big hits on HBOMax, followed by ZSJL. How does that equate to "failure"? In fact, the analyst they interview questions the wisdom of the GvK strategy and says that he doubts people pay 15 bucks for just
one movie... i.e., people pay those 15 bucks for the expectation of what content is coming. And let's not forget that WB released some very fishy numbers and statistics regarding the GvK release, some of which directly contradicted each other and basically made no sense at all (like not counting the correct day ZSJL was released, or counting GvK's numbers before its actual day of release)... At any rate, all the buzz Snyder's movies get will not go unnoticed for any investor, and if the subscription numbers are going up, everybody's happy. And lastly, it's disingenuous at best to think that the ZSJL did not have a hand in growing those subscription numbers.
Whether that means Snyder will be called back to make more movies/series in the DCEU remains to be seen, but the "Snyder-verse" is alive and well: the Flash movie with Miller is going ahead, Gal Gadot is still Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa is still Aquaman... hell, even Margot Robbie is still Harley Quinn and Will Smith's Headshot hasn't been recast. Affleck is coming back for the Flash movie and the new Superman isn't Kal-El, so technically Cavill is still Superman. Oh, and Levi is still Shazam... So, yeah, the Snyder-verse lives on.
What seems clear is that there's a huge tug of war between Team Snyder and Team Not-Snyder in the AT&T/WB/HBOMax family that is muddying the waters regarding the "performance" of ZSJL.
