Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

:lol

He definitely has issues..

I think he's stuck in the late 80's after Frank Miller's The Dark Knight released. He still imagines that every hero being dark and edgy would be way cooler. :slap

:lol

In fairness, I'm being glib, I don't know much about the guy beyond having seen his films and this thread but yeah -- there's a time warp there. I had a great time in the late '80s and particularly the '90s. I still have a soft spot for a lot of the aesthetic choices and zeitgeist from those times, but the zeitgeist moves on.

If all you want is angry young men with comic books and no girlfriends, keep making super dark DC films. But I think it's obvious the MCU succeeded in part by not taking themselves too seriously all the time. Given the subject matter, it's almost a pre-requisite. Snyder and company shouldn't slavishly imitate the MCU but it wouldn't hurt them to stretch a bit, the better to find a voice people want to be entertained by. I empathize, it's not easy and everyone's a critic, but hey -- it's their job.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

I had to see if that image of Wonder Woman was actually legit, and it is! :lol:lol

Definitely edgy and adds to the Snyder meme, even though I do like his vision. Cool to see but good thing that didn't stay in the movie. Imagine going from holding severed heads to cat fighting in 1984.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Zack Snyder:

"The image that we shot from the Wonder Woman movie, there's the team. We actually shot for the movie before we did this [photo] and inserted it into the film. I had shot a placeholder because, when we shot BvS, we hadn't really finished the concept for Wonder Woman yet, but the idea that Batman was looking at an early photographic image -- not a painting, but a photograph -- to prove that it's the same person and that the photograph was a hundred years old to show that she hadn't aged, that notion was in the film before we made the Wonder Woman movie. That was a way to start with the concept of the Wonder Woman film as a concept, that she had a team of people that she was going after Ares with.

So we had shot in Detroit. Steve Berkman, who shot the image of Wonder Woman from World War One, we had shot that previous with an image from the Crimean War because it was one of the early conflicts where photography was used, and I really wanted to get the longest stretch possible. I think we originally even talked about it being the [American] Civil War as a possibility in our early conversations, like, what would really show the distance? And that idea was really fun to play around with, so we shot another one of those images in Detroit and I have it somewhere, but it exists, and then we reshot it, but I had Gal in the original photo, but it was the Crimean War, so it was a very different kind of look."

Marvel had sort of figured the comic-book movie formula. They can make it more serious, or funny, but they kind of gotten the formula working. They can make it more darker (IW) or more lighter (GoTG.)

The only realm you can go is making it less of a comic book movie with comic book characters still walking around. The Dark Knight and Logan are examples of movies that are moving towards something different, but not completely. The issue is these visions do not lend themselves for a shared cinematic universe.

The DCEU basically needs to give up the E and U , at least for awhile, to be successful, otherwise just try copying MCU.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Snyder does some awesome stuff...just pushes it too far. Cool pic, but does the heads need to be there? That's the problem, no one at WB to reign him in and a little common sense on his part. I wonder what Man of Steel reviews would be at if the neck snap wasn't in it?

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

This statement from Snyder regarding classic Superman makes no sense to me. Is classic blue Superman in his cut or not first he says yes he is but then no not really. :dunno

Am I reading that right lol

"I really was always a very strong advocate for the black suit," Snyder said. "I really wanted the black suit and it made sense for me because — it's exactly as you say — Superman, as a character, notoriously does not grow. He's like a rock and everything just smashes against him and then we learn, by trying to change a thing that's unchangeable so that we can learn about ourselves, (and) that's sort of the old way, the old Superman."

"I really felt like my Superman...has to sort of level up and sort of learn something and be something different because in the end, the idea is that, or what I had planned was that, the...final step for Superman is kind of his real return, or his real coming into, what I would consider almost the classic Superman," Snyder added.

Snyder went on to say that the "classic" Superman moment doesn't really happen in this movie. He also explained that the black suit in his cut of the movie is a "great time delineator" that allows audiences to see where in the timeline they are with the character.

"I really was always excited about using the black suit to kind of lock us in to...when he goes from the black suit to the red and blue suit (and) what that means," he said. "You can't just be like, 'oh now let's put him in the blue suit, now let's put him in the black suit.' It's like, 'no, that's not cool.'"

Superman went full crazy in that movie though. Even after destroying half of Metropolis, the movie ends with Superman smashing a military drone because he basically declares he owns the skys.

Freaking totalitarian monster.

I think if Snyder could focus more on character development, and not CGI destruction...DC would be more like the MCU and less like the Transformers series.

It?s just his pitch. I for one think this looks brilliant. Reminds me of a heavy metal magazine story.

It?s an even more diverse a team. A Nubian warrior, a samurai, a Sikh warrior, old Scottish warrior. Those heads could belong to demonic generals.

Yes, but in what past war would you have seen all of them fighting together? If this was The Old Guard with Charlize Theron I could see it, but not with Wonder Woman.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

I don’t think Snyder knows what he’s talking about. His “vision” is all over the place.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

He's good at visuals, not so much at story IMO.

He is okay on visuals...as long as he does not design, story or concept art...

I thought the JL version was lame, but this looks like a design by a 10 year-old.

That does look awful. Snyder embraces his 13 year old self a little too much...:lol

Most adversaries should already be ******** bricks just from being in his presence. Not cause his armor is intimidating with spikes all over it.

They should be ******** bricks, but why do I think they'd be like

It?s just his little cute face that I hate. The concept art and BvS versions looked much better.

But this looks 10,000x better than the Weadon-league

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Zack was never a good story teller so I was extremely baffled they got this guy to headline an entire DC universe .

The action is ok but everything else is poor. I laugh at zach fans on Facebook that say you don?t understand his film?s like they all have a deep meaning to them all lol
