Watching Afleck play Bruce Wayne/Batman felt no different than when I watched him play Matt Murdock/Daredevil.

I rewatched MOS the other day after many years. I was enjoying it for the most part until Superman starts fight the girl and big guy and then later with the main villain. I don't know I just check out when building are getting destroyed for no reason. Yes I can understand the villains wrecking S**T up but Superman?? He'll grab the guy and push him through barns, buildings, shops etc. Like c'mon man you grew up here. These building are peoples livelihood. Smashing through offices. It makes Superman inconsiderate to the people he is trying to help. Think of the aftermath unemployment, raised taxes, increase in insurance premiums. Again this is not when the villain is puching Superman, its when Superman is pushing him. It would have been a nice subtle touch if you could see Superman trying to fight without destroying. I don't know maybe a guy in his 40's (me) who is married with children and a mortgage sees things differently!!

I mean its not much different than Michael Bay. Really Michael Bay has done some brilliant visuals, with usually lacking story. I would put Snyder a notch below him from a blockbuster perspective.

I totally agree that when the fighting starts in MoS, the movie becomes pretty bad.

One way to look at it is that Snyder Superman is an alien without the ability to feel love or compassion for humanity. Sure he likes his parents, but that is also selfish as they are his connection to humanity. When his father dies, so does his love of humanity.

In the End the Man of Steel and Zod are almost the same...willing to destroy everything for their beliefs, including the civilization around them. Man of Steel is about a sociopathic alien dealing with monsters that threaten the ones closest to him. Saving the earth is incidental.

You could argue BvS is basically the same thing, Superman starts off the movie killing somebody unnecessarily, and gets pissed at Batman for being a violent murderer like him.

But its flashy, and lit dark, and has violence, and it makes good youtube clips. And that is the audience for these movies.

Zach Snyder is appealing to his generation of people who called Black Sabbath corny, and Limp Bizkit the real metal. But Limp Bizkit was popular for awhile so you just have to ride it out.
